You could try putting streaks of lemon juice in. Put them in strategic places and then sit in the sun for 10/15 mins. This should lighten the streaks to a lighter brown and give your hair nice depth instead of block colour.

Please dont use peroxide, or henna. If you want to lighten your hair please go to a licenced salon or hair school if you need it alot cheaper and discuss your options with your cosmetologist. Theres really no way to lightner your hair and make it look ok without using dye. Far as the person said use peroxide you might as well go tot he salon since there is peroxide in dye. Why don't you want to dye it? If you are afraid of damage as long as you have a good hairdresser who knows what they are doing you should be just fine.

IMPOSSIBLE................The only way you can get lighter hair is to use chemicals..(a dye).No lemon juice or hydrogen peroxide..that will make it orange. a tint mixed with 20 volume peroxide will lift it about 5 levels of color...IF you hair is in good condition that shouldn't harm it to much. But a warning....If your hair is straightened or permed.....This could ruin it!!! Lighting very dark brown/black hair without getting red or orange is almost impossible!

Try a lemon juice & peroxide wash, sit outside and let it dry. This will bring out the lighter tones in your hair.

Have you ever dyed your hair? If you have your natural color then you don't have to bleach it. Just dye it the shade of brown that you want. You would only need to bleach it if your hair was previously dyed because light dye cannot lift dark dye.

don't make it lighter!! instead go darker. i have like black/brown hair too n i dyed it blue-black. not much ppl have that colour hair n it looks kool!if u dont like the result it fades in a week to a super shiny BLACK black, not just a brown/black.

This is going to sound weird, but putting hydrogen peroxide on your hair will lighten it considerably, I also heard baking soda in water will do the same thing. Hope that helps!

then use bleach....dye dosen't lighten it, it colors it. You cant put a light color on dark hair and have it show up.

People with dark hair get light color highlights to lighten their hair, and it has bleach and color in it.

Your best bet is to talk to a hair color specialist, not just a stylist or someone who cuts hair.
