I don't know why it is broken, but absolutely no sound comes out, ever.

It used to. It doesn't say that it's disabled. Don't have any idea what could be disabling it or anything.

Thank You!

There could be a zillion reasons. Is the power cord for the speakers plugged in and if so is the power working? Is the plug where the speakers go into the computer loose? Maybe it's plugged in but in the wrong place? Maybe something is wrong with the speakers themselves if they are plugged in correctly and powered up. If you had another set of speakers you know work, then you could try them. If they don't work, then maybe the problem is the sound board. If the sound is built into the motherboard, then you will need to buy a sound card and install it and plug the speakers into that. If the sound is on a separate card, then you might have to replace it. Have you checked the volume setting in windows? Maybe it's set to nothing. See that little icon that looks like a speaker or megaphone in your system tray? In the lower right hand corner? Click on that and check to see how the volume is set.

Check the audio jack that runs from the speakers to the computer. Make sure it's plugged in at the back of the computer. Sometimes the wire may get knocked out of place. Also, make sure you have it plugged in the correct jack. It should be in the audio out jack [green-colored, normally]. It shouldn't be in the microphone jack [red] or the line-in jack [blue].

Also, make sure your speaker power line is plugged into the back of your speakers [if it's the sort of wire you can disconnect]. Make sure it's in the jack nice and tight. It can also come loose. While you're at it, double-check and make sure the electric plug for the speaker is plugged into the wall outlet or power strip. Perhaps it was knocked out of place.

1) You might have installed another card in your PC recently which conflicts with your sound card. Check through Control Panel
2) Your sound card is toast.
3) Do you have the MUTE on !!?? :0)
