I got out of the navy a couple of years back and received a general discharge (under honorable conditions) with a re-entry code RE-4.
It was for misconduct. I know that you can't join the military again because of my code, but can I join the army national guard? I have heard that there are some people who've had the exact same type of discharge as me and managed to get into the guard with a waiver. Is this possible? If so, can I join the guard and go to officer candidate school? I just graduated college and I was thinking about going into the guard and go to officer candidate school.

Who knows? It doesn't appear that the uniform code of military justice is administered uniformly anyway.

It will be over before you know it. I know a bunch of guys that had kids when I went to basic. I guess it make a difference of how old they are. I would say that if they are 5 or older then they will be find. As longs as they will be able to stay with your hubby they will be fine. Plus, once you join you will be sending a check home while you are training. I would join. The hardest part will be that you wont be able to email or call, you will have to send snail mail which gets kind of annoying after awhile. I think you should. I did and it was totally worth it. Good Luck. P.S.- To all the other guys, yes motherhood is important, but in response I would say that protecting your children and providing them with a future is one of the best parts of being a parent. How better can you do both than by joining the Army. Not only are you protecting you are getting a nice bonus, I smell college money. I take it back, your kids at any age are fine. It's only 9 weeks. Then AIT when you will be able to communicate regularly. What are you thinking about making your MOS.

my friend, the answer would be no u cant rejoin any branch of the service with a re-4 code. the regular army and national guard fell under the same reg when considering reenlistment code. but there are ways you can change this here is a good way to get started type in army reg 601-210 its a enlistment reg. chapter 3 deals with re-codes. by the way no u cant become a officer with umcj action taking against you.if you dont believe call a recruiter and just ask him

Yes, you can join the Army National Guard. Your discharge won't keep you from getting in. What will help you, though, is a good background that will make you seem more useful than the next guy/gal. Get the waiver and go for it!

Talk to a recruiter. He is the only one that will know for sure, but to be safe(if he says no) check with a few other recruiters.
