a yorkie was bred down from the silky and is a smaller dog with longer hair and tinyier features. the silky has more austrailian terrier in it. go to www.puppyfind.com and when you see the alphabet press "y" to see yorkies and "s" to see silkys... enjoy:)
i have had many of yorkies and once had a silky. both breeds are the MOST loyal breed to one person there is !

They are two different breeds based on many dog shows I've seen. As far as I know the main difference is that Silkys are a bit bigger and have slightly different proportions, but their coats look similar to me.
Remember, there's no such thing as a "teacup" dog, and one advertised as such is probably the result of shoddy breeding just to make a profit. It will likely be sickly for the entirety of its short life. When you're ready for a yorkie, try your local shelter for a mix, they don't mind if you call and ask what they have. Or try Yorkie rescue, they have tons of pure dogs that need homes. If you -have- to buy one, find a reputable breeder that will let you meet the parents and play with the litter to pick your puppy.
Good luck!
