I want to call the uk, and i'm in the usa. I read it's 00+1* to call the us. but others say it's only 001.
and the uk is 011+44. which usa one is right? do you have to press the star or can you jus dial 001 to call the us? Thanks.

If you're in the US and you want to call the UK, you dial 011-44-city code and number. A UK number like 0171 123 4567 would be dialed 011-44-171-123-4567
If you're calling from a cell phone, that should work as well, although it's generally accepted to dial +44 instead of 011-44. You get the + from holding down the * key or pressing it twice depending on your phone.
If you're in the UK calling the US, you dial 001-area code-phone number, so if the phone number is (212) 555-1212, you would dial 001-212-555-1212 from the UK. If you're calling from a mobile phone in the UK you would dial +1-212-555-1212 getting the plus the same way I mentioned before.

Hello there, if you are in the US and you want to call the UK, you have to dial 011-44, city code and number. A UK number like 0128-213-8954, would be dialed 011-44-182-213-8954.
