I have no idea what a funny word is, cause I have no sense of humor.
But Shemus Would brought a crate and a microphone to the corner of Second South and West Temple one time last summer, and got up and acted like he was going to preach, and he announced simply but loudly "I stepped on a poptart." And then he commenced to laugh uncontrollably, and fell off the crate, and disappeared into a building, still laughing.
The people who stopped to look were bewildered and confused I imagine; and I had no idea what was so funny, but then I myself have no sense of humor.
So when I read your question, I couldn't think of a word; but that sentence came to mind.

Hippopotemostrosesquapedaliaphobia
i dont know why the whole word doesnt show up, but the last part is "phobia"....i dont know how much of that you can see....
The only reason this word is funny--discounting its absurd legnth--is because of its definition: "the fear of long words"
I love it!
(Oh, also good are:
"defenestration," which is "the act of throwing something or someone out of a window,"
and
"smellfungus," which is an obsolete word meaning, in essence "to be so selfish and complaining as to put yourself in a state of perpetual misery.")

It means hospital for lighters. It used to be the name of a gorgeous since-ever-existing shop in Antwerp (Belgium) where you could buy or get repaired the most amazing lighters. The owner of the shop was one of these old guys that seem to come with the furniture of its place.. Unfortunately, now it became one of those trendy clothes store.
I always adored the word, it's Antwerp dialect and chews well in the mouth. No clue how it sounds to an english speaker..

My son and I used to think pumpernickel was hysterical. Not even sure where he heard it first. He was about 4, and if you wanted a laugh, all you had to do was say it.
I may have to try that on him again - he's 6 now. He'd probably at least smile.

Herm. Bakkalava. Forgive me if I offend anyone by my horrid attempt at spelling this word-- I admit I don't really know how, having only heard it.

Stupid! So many people who are not smart call everything that doesn't fit their ideas as stupid. The question here is whether the person making the statement is stupid, or only their opinion.
