All the textbook facts in the world don't mean a thing if they're not backed up with experience, no matter what the subject. Would you buy a car repair book from a person who'd studied everything there was to know about cars but never touched one? I like the personal experience mixed with facts style much, much better and find it more reliable and believable.

Textbooks are boring. I definitely would prefer personal experiences mixed with facts.
