First of all when your puppy reaches a weight of 50LB start mixing pup food & adult food togeather. Each week mix more adult food then pup food. This way the outside of the dog will grow at the same rate as the inside of the dog. If you follow these directions your large breed dog will have a long life. Please stay away from anything Purina makes. We feed our dogs Petsmart brand food or I also feed them Nutro brand food.

PS We have 4 dogs 3 Great Danes & 1 Puggle.

Good luck with your new Dobie!! Todd

If they are really young, just leave them a little and they will eat when they want it.But if they are over 3 months then try 2 times a day.Morning and night, if they eat all the food at once and look for more then put more ,if they eat then leave some and walk away then you need to put less.Try and you will see that they will let you know how much to feed them......

Puppies are just like children, they should eat three time a day and have a controlled amount of food so you know how much they're eating when you feed them. This way they are not under feed or over feed.

Ask your vet or breeder to be sure. Puppies need specific puppy food, and lots of it since they grow so quickly. Remember that the routine will likely be important to your puppy so once you commit to one, you'll need to stick to it or change it very gradually.

OVER 3 MONTHS OLD feed 3x a day for life ... smaller meals often are MUCH better for ALL dogs but sp. large dogs than one giant meal. before 3 months feed every 3 -4 hours . small mounts.
