Look up Yorkie rescue if you have your heart set on a pure bred. You'll get a dog that needs a home, for cheaper than buying from a breeder.
But you really should go to the pound. Call around to local shelters and ask if they have any Yorkies or yorkie mixes. It's okay to be picky, but remember that any dog there needs your love.

Good Luck!! I live in TN and raise them and I get more than $300.00, have you checked at the animal shelters to put your name on a waiting list for a Yorkie? That may be the only way you will get 1 or you can post an ad in the paper or the free website www.localsalesnetwork.com and luck up and find someone who is moving and needs to find a home for 1 they can't take with them.

Try looking in the free classifieds ads online (www.craigslist.com). If you're looking for a puppy, try bargaining with dog breeders you find on craigslist.com and in your local newspaper classified ads. First talk to them and let them get to know you by talking about dogs. Another option is you can try paying the $300.00 in payments and sign a contract saying you will pay the owner. Some dog owners will give you the dog if you are willing to sign a contract and pay in payments. Look for the initials "O.B.O" or just "OBO" on classified adoptable pets ads which means "Or best offer".
However, if you don't like getting up several times during the night to pay attention to your puppy, take him/her out to go to the bathroom, don't mind starting from point A to get to point Z in training (including housetraining), then you should consider a older dog. I adopted a 3 y/o Standard Dachshund female who's on the smaller side and looks more like a toy Dachshund. I found her on craigslist.com as well. The ad read inside "Spayed, up-to-date on all her shots, purebred 3 year old Dachshund female, housetrained". She's not only very mellow and well behaved, but she's only 3 years old and not a senior yet.
Also try www.petfinder.com to find a pet of your pick near you in a shelter and in your state's classified ads of "Adoptable Pets".
www.akc.org's another website you should try out to find out more information about toy dogs and
Do you want a hyper dog or a mellow dog? A affectionate dog or non-affectionate? A dog that requres more grooming or does it matter (it shouldn't matter as long as you find the "one";-)? A talker or a quiet dog? A dog that takes more time to learn or a dog that learns fast?
I ended reading a book called "Dogs For Dummies" because I didn't know anything about dogs before I got her. I thought I didn't like dogs at all because I was always raised with big dogs like St. Bernards and Great Pyrenees.
Your local S.P.C.A. should also have a website. Pray for God to lead you to the "right" one too and give him time to find one for you. It took 2 weeks for me to find mine. :-D

I'm really not for buying dogs. The pound has perfectly good animals that will love you and will have a good dog. If you think the pound doesn't have small dogs-mine is from the pound and hes small-hes 14" tall. There also is a website that will help you see pets you could adopt. Its address is: www.petfinder.com

Go to the pound, there are MANY unwanted animals that need your love. There are also Animal rescue groups that specialize in specific breeds.
