no sit ups or anything will get you a six pack if you have a high body fat percentage. The only way to have a six pack, is yes through crunches, sit ups, oblique exercises, and many other exercises for the abdominal muscles.....but none of this will matter if you do not lessen the layer of fat covering those muscles, which requires cardio. lots of cardio. If you are already low of the body fat, then i would do about 5-10 minutes of abdominal exercises 3-5 times a week. because your ab muscles recover quickly between sets you should shorten the break in between sets, and just consantly be tightening those muscles with crunches. so if you do 15 crunches rest for only 5-10 seconds and repeat. if you follow this you only need about 5 minutes for a whole ab workout.

To do it properly you do not do sit ups per say. You start from the top down on your abs. 1) lying on your back you slowly raise your sholders off the floor-for upper abs - do slowly till hurt. 2) then you do crunches for middle abs. 3) then you do elbows to knees for lower abs. 4) then leg raisers with hands to side or under butt for bottom abs.
Then you do side obliques if you have love handles-a bar behind your head and back and forth a lot, also can do side elbows to knees (3) .
Then muscles you work every other day....except abs...those do everyday because they are so strong mussles....food and stuff....with a six pack you will look and digest better and will be proud of yourself.....so stop reading this and get HOT!!!! Smell ya later!

depends how much fat you got covering up those muscles. your first step would be to lose that so that you're muscles, when toned, will actually be seen but if thats not your problem then i'd reccommend not sit-ups but some kind of ab exercise where you have to use weight resistance thats more than just gravity alone. one of the most challenging ones that i do (outside of the gym) was to take a medicine ball in my hands and a fitness ball between my shins and lie on my back on the floor. slowly bring your legs and arms up and touch the two balls together. then lower them in a slow controlled manner. try 3 sets of 15 reps at least 3 times a week. do some web research for other exercises also...abs respond best to a variety of exercises.

There is no actual number. And while sits ups, crunches, and other ab excercises might build the stomach muscles, they will not nevessarily give you the '6-pack' look. That depends on your muscle to fat ratio.

might sound over doing it but what i did was

at my boxing gym 3 sets 300 with a 20 pound medicine ball

(start with the ball in the trainers hands and every time ou catch the ball go back)

then cross abbs 3 sets of 100 on both sides

cross left 100(x3)
cross right 100(x3)

Immediately apply an ice pack to take the swelling down. Heat for the pain. If it's a constant pain in your back, low heat.

Depends on how fast you want them and how much you weigh!
Do 1000 crunches a day split up in sections...
Eat healthy, running and/or walking fast for an hour definitely helps.
It will take anywhere from a month to six months to see affects!
It depends on how much time youll spend doing it.

It wont matter how much crunches you do if you have a layer of fat over your abdominal section. The only way you'll get rid of that is to do cardio.

you cant GET a sixpack... everyone is BORN with them... ppl just tone them so they stand out more...and it takes around 200,000 crucnhes to burn 1lb of fat and exchange it for 1 lb of muscle... so you need to exchange anywhere between 5-10 lbs to get it toned enough... crunches dont do wonders tho... try holding yourself off the ground and lfting your legs slowly... this will build and define your abs... try the AbLounge too?? i have it and it works great... gets boring/repetitive after awhile but you gotta do what you gotta do!
