belief in a God is a solid. Faith comes in as you live your life daily in the ways of God. Much like you know that the chair exists, but it takes faith that when you sit in it, it won't collapse. Some things come naturally, but if you have experienced other issues or opinons, you now have to exercise faith that you're going in the right direction. Using the chair again, if you've experience people jumping on the chair, or if you've seen other chairs from the set fall apart, it will take faith to sit in it and put your full weight on it and expect for it to hold you up.

You are so right, the chair I'm sitting in exists, but my faith isn't whether the chair exists, it's whether or not it will hold me up while I sit here, right?
I know this chair will hold me up because the last 400 times I've sat down it did exactly that, it held me up. But I would hardly expect my neighbor to have such faith in my chair's ability, now would I?
Faith is sort of like that, it's user-friendly. The more you use it, the more friendly it seems :)

Believing in something or having faith is for things that are NOT seen w/ the naked eye. Some people believe in God some don't that is because he is unseen physically. Having the faith taht he does exist and acknowledging his works allows people to "see" him through those things maybe not phycally but spiritaully. A chair is seen in the physcal it would be kind of hard to prove it does not exist!

You may know something exists, but not know if something will happen, for instance:
I know the chair exists, but I believe it will hold me.
It is the same thing with God:
I know God exists and Christ died for me, but i believe He will take care of me.
As a human, there will always be that trust issue. Like those team building exercises where you stand on a chair and those in you group have to catch you. You know they are there, you just don't necessarily know that they will catch you, you just have to believe they will.

I beg to differ with you. When I am seated in a chair, I believe that it is there! Faith may cause a person to "know that GOD exists", that does not necessarily mean that you will know or believe HE does. Does this make sense? I hope that it does. have a great week!!

Faith is believing in something you can't see or explain.
If my lights all go out because of a power failure. I know the chair will still be there even tho I can't see it because I have faith. I also have faith it will hold me up even though I can't see it.

You are wrong. I have great faith in the chair that I am in, I lowered myself into it expecting that it will hold me...and it does. Faith isn't merely believing something exists...faith is the action that follows that belief.

My cat knows I exist. I feed her and give her water and catnip. She knows me.
She needs faith in me when I have to bathe her or take her to the vet. The reason she needs faith is because to her, it seems like I'm doing something bad - putting her in water or holding her while the vet gives her a shot. If it were not for the good aspects of our relationship, she'd probably bite me when I do things that seem unpleasant to her.
She's a cat. She doesn't know why shots are necessary. As her biped, it's my obligation to take care of her, even in ways that don't make sense to her.
I don't need faith to know God exists. I may not be able to prove it to you any more than I can prove to you that I have a cat, or than my cat could prove to you that I exist. I need faith in God in order to obey Him in matters that don't make sense to me.
It makes more sense at times to resent those who hurt me rather than to forgive them. I forgave in faith and learned that it really was best for me.
Faith is not simply believing. Faith is the willingness to test what you believe. We need that because sometimes what God calls us to do is counter-intuitive.

Faith is believing in something that there is not conclusive, secular proof of, therefore, for all religions, faith becomes a factor. Try denying your "faith" in evolution. It is only a theory, and it has not been proved, so therefore believing in it could be called a form of faith in itself.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen.
So you are right,if is not faith to believe in God or Jesus.
We know they live.
We often use the word faith ,to help non believers to understand.
I believe in the air,I can't see.I have faith that with no air I would die.
I believe in the God I can't see,have faith that without him I would die.<>< \0/
