my cat has a "ferret" toy that she loves. It's basically a tube wrapped in burlap with faux fur on both ends with something that rattles inside. She's had it forever but it's starting to show it's age.

I can't find anything like it anywhere, but I'm certain I can make her one easily enough.

My question is, is glue from a low temp glue gun used for crafts safe for cats once it's dried? If not, what can I use? What kind of glue do toy companies use?

*Smile* I thought about sewing...but Emma's nickname isn't Bitchlet for nothing...it would be torn apart in an hour. I swear this ferret toy is sealed together with cartoon strength super glue...

this toy is glued together, as are many pet toys of a similar fashion. Toy mice for example. And we're not talking silicon here, just enough to keep some fabric together.

Yes glue for a glue gun is safe for making toys for animals. I raise Yorkies and make my own toys. I save all our worn out socks and tops from laundry products and put the tops in the sock and tie a knot in it and they love it. Also take a plastic easter egg and put a rock in it and tie it in the end of a sock and you will have a very happy cat. Have fun.

I had a cat toy that was showing it's age. It was one of those furry mice that you can get for $.99 at PetSmart.... the fur was coming off and revieling the plastic body... so I took a glue gun and glued it back on.... I put the smallest bits of glue on it. Worked well. Until she passed way and new kitten came into my life...inherrited the to and killed it. LOL. It's just a tail now. ANYWAY check to see if the glus is toxic...and just use the smallest amount possible. or try sewing.

One of the easiest cat toys to make, get some catnip and put it in an old sock. Tie a knot in the end and give it to the cat to play with.

Glue gun glue, I'd be a little worried if the cat chews off the glue. Any glue you are thinking of using, make sure it's labeled non-toxic.

I dont think you should make 1 your self because glue can choke a cat!!!! Cat toy companies usially sew stuff together. Try to find a toy that is kind of like it, but she only likes the toy because it has her scent on it completly. Once she gets a hold of that new toy she will love it just as much in a couple weeks! Trust me!

LOL! my cats did the same element. I really do not understand why they do it to boot the actual incontrovertible fact that cords are very captivating for cats. attempt putting orange oil on the cords, that's a furnishings polish, cats hate the smell of orange, and bitter apple works nicely too. you should be able to discover those at any tremendous marketplace.

As far as I know, it is safe. Check the label on the stick package, it should whether or not it is toxic. But, I think sewing it would be more flexible.
