After I took my braces off about a year ago, I was told to wear my retainers 24/7. However, I got frustrated with the slurring and decided to only wear it at night. Well after a year, my orthodontist told me I MUST wear it 24/7 and now I've noticed significant movement (on top row). She also tighted my retainers and told me to wear it for another 6 mos until I see her again. Will wearing my retainers (top row) actually move my teeth back into place? Or will I have to get braces again? Any other alternative?

well
it depedends on how your teeth look after 6 month.
if it lokks like your teeth are getting to it's correct space
you will still need to wear retainnerss..

but if your dentist thinks that your teeth is looking kinda worse
then you'll need to get braces again..

that's what happened to my friend lots of times..

but all my friends with braces tell me that after braces you'll have to wear retainers for a preety long timeee
if you want your teeth to look beautiful

Do what the orthodontist tells you! The retainer will move your teeth back if you wear it as instructed. If you slack off or stop wearing it, your teeth will gradually move back to their original position and you will need braces all over again.

Ask if you can get a different type of retainer that doesn't cause slurred speech. Invisalign style retainers are very thin and lightweight, maybe that would be more comfortable..

It sounds like you've got significant enough movement in your teeth that braces may be needed again. This time, follow their directions for tooth care. It takes a long time for the teeth to become secure after having been moved by the braces.

They can move from a retainer, but not at well as braces.

Check into the invisalign braces. They are clear and not noticable to the other people.

No other alternative. Yes, your teeth will move back into place and be nice and straight...as intended. Do what she says.
