Drink 8 glasses of water a day. When the body knows that it will be getting a constant supply of water, it is less likely to store it.

It's like what happens when you starve yourself, then start packing on the pounds when you start eating again. The body is preparing for the next time that it will be without food. Same thing with water retention - it is storing up for the next drought. Keep giving your body water, and it will be less likely to hold on to the excess.

Yes, water retention makes your feet and legs ache and makes it hurt to step on your feet. Usually it is because of eating too much sodium (salt). Or perhaps because of a kidney problem, but usually eating too much salt in your diet.

Salt is a big cause but there are other causes. See LOSING WATER WEIGHT on site below for full explanation.

Sodium ( salt ) is a magnet to water, so diet and low or no activity is a big problem, there can be other circumstances, but most of us, that's the problem.

drink lots of water. cut out processed foods: tv dinners, crackers, cookies, fast food, soda, chips, pretzels, canned food, etc. eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies. cut out added sugars and refined sugars and carbs. dairy also makes some people bloat, i know it makes me bloat.
