Whites and pinks should be chilled, reds should be served at slightly cool to room temp.

white zinfandel yes
shiraz no

White Zin is a blush wine and most blush wine needs to be chilled for storage and for serving. Keep in mind White Zin is not the same as Zin which is a red wine wine. totally different storage requirements.

Shiraz is red and should be stored at 54 degrees and served at room temp. take out of storage about 20 min prior to serving to warm up.

Hope this helps!

No! White Zinfandel is too sweet for cooking recipes unless specifically called for. If you want to substitute you can get a cheap Chablis or Chardonnay. White wine in recipes is whgite in color, White Zinfandel is pink.

for long term storage, keep them on the side so the cork doesn't dry out if kept for a long time (not a problem in my house)
store in a cool dark basement if possible.

chill the whites before serving. overnight in the fridge is fine.

the syrah (shiraz) should be a nice cool room temperature (68F-70F is fine)

If you have an open bottle, seal out the air (upside down cork usually works) and put both reds and whites in the fridge.
fancy corks and CO2 gizmos are sold to keep the oxygen away from wine once opened... they really don't work very well. drink the wine and enjoy!

Anything sparkling, white or rose should be chilled, and kept chilled while being served at the meal. Fill a metal ice bucket with ice and water to keep it chilled.

Reds should not be served at "room temperature", they shoud actually be served at "cellar temperature", which is typically around 58 degrees. Hope this helps.

Not usually. You should really only chill sweet wines as a rule.
