I rally don't know what the hell is wrong with them. They are nothing but crap. BYBs and Puppy Mills use it. They charge more money and don't track bloodlines or ped.s. Why go to CKC when we have AKC? AKC tracks lines to make sure the dog is purebred and it coasts less!!!!!!!!!!! AKC truely is the best kennel club.

The dog dose not need to match standards to be AKC!!! I have a JRT that was AKC when we got him and was bred before we got him aswell!!!! BAD mistake!!! That was obviously a BYB!!!! He has a disqualifiying defect!!!! She was going to throw him out if we didn't take him!!! We were smart and got him neuterd ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for some reson he was also reg. with the JRTCA and I still havn't figured out how she did that when he has that defect. The defect is that his left ear stands up and if you read the standard it is NOT suposed to.

The "Con KRAP Club" is for CROOKS & puppy mills & those who idiots who GOT crap from such!!!
It & the clones of it-ACA,APRI,NKC,etc.- are FAKES,recently made up JUST to SCAM the GULLIBLE morons into thinking paid big bucks for a *REAL* dog when all they got was a POS from a CROOK!!!
You might as well draw your own "papers" w/a purple crayon on TOLIET PAPER! At least it would be of use!
AKC is the ONLY american registry to deal with.
UKC doesn't even pretend anymore.

We had important problems with CKC when I were given my canines. i'm relating the Canadian Kennel club. First, the lady we were given him from spelled the call incorrect, stated Jagr replaced into already taken so we ended up with Jagger. entire BS... Then, we stumbled on out that she'd lied about who the sire replaced into. So he wasn't even meant to be papered for some reason. We fought with CKC about this for over a 12 months and they did not do f*ck all. This sweet large remains breeding canines for CKC. Who is known with what percentage individuals she's ripped off. the corporate would not care, see you later as they receives a fee.

Most pet owners don't know the difference between the registries. All they hear is "the dog is registered" they assume they have a pure bred dog with legit lineage. If they took the time to research prior to buying they would know the difference. But, that would require work on their part and it just isn't happening. BYBs and Puppy Mills are happy to take their money and the more the better. They are scamming these people with worthless registries and cute made up little names for breeds that don't even exist. Scam artists are proficient at telling people what they want to hear and providing them with enough details to separate them from their wallets. " A fool and their money are soon parted" not only for the cost of the pups but for sometimes years of medical costs too.

You are right ckc (continental kennel club) is crap. I agree AKC is a reputable registry and others such as ACA, APRI, WKC,and WWKC are just junk. However if this is in regards to the question about the Shepherd pup with CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) papers she did not mean CKC = continental kennel club she has CKC from the Canadian Kennel Club and this is also a reputable registry.
Not to start an argument but I will add that akc also allows puppymills and backyard breeders to register their pups as long as the parents are akc registered. To answer the question why do people buy dogs with papers from crap registries it is simply because they do not know any better and a lot of people do not care about papered dogs.

Neither the registry makes the dog nor the breeder. AKC is mostly a brand name item for the snobs. It doesn't prevent dishonest breeders at all and the DNA science is not completely fool proof but it might put forth more efforts to hold breeders accountable and to police the industry if you will. Their service is expensive and slow and inaccurate and basically lousy and they have been unfriendly to many professional breeders who breed quality dogs until the majority have left them to go to other registries with better prices and service. It's more important to know the breeder you are dealing with. AKC does NOT cost less overall. Nobody could stay in business like they do except they fool the public by sponsoring dog shows paid for by folks like Iams/Eukanuba and have great P.R. until it comes to dealing with their bread and butter supporters, the breeders, whether or not they show their dogs. Also, their dog shows are so political, it took the enjoyment out of it for many people. Sorry, but the only reason I kept using AKC is because the public is still thinking it's a brand name to place higher value on the dog and it's nothing doing. Hey, if you like AKC though then use them but why run down CKC?? I don't know how you know who all their registar base is or what quality of animals they raise but I sense there's a prejudice there not based on any provable facts. If so, cite your credible sources. I'm not that familiar with them but I do know AKC makes more mistakes than you can shake a stick at and charges the customer for their mess ups. Customer service is more important than good P.R. in any company any day of the week. That doesn't mean they are lax but that the demand is there and they weren't fulfilling it. Many people use several registries for the various advantages each offers for the money.

People get animals for different reasons. If your going for show then AKC is what you need, but you can still get an AKC dog that has an overbite, ear/s don't stand, ect. If a person wants a dog just to love, I wouldn't think it had to be pure.

All of my dogs are AKC registered, except for my rescued dog (he is an unregistered purebred, I got his papers when I adopted him but I just tossed them since I adopted him with a neuter contract). I really do not have any experience with CKC.

Just for kicks I registered my mother with CKC, does that tell you anything?? But don't confuse Continental Kennel Club with Canadian Kennel Club, they are two very different things.
camarogir...
Why was it necessary to register your Rotty at all??
Does it make the dog stand taller or something???
You know there is actually a "stud book" here in the US that is far older than AKC (and far stricter)

Does it really matter? Out of all of the dog owners in the world, how many REALLY care about showing dogs anymore? Who really cares if their puppy follows strict breed standards? Who makes sure their puppies have their tails docked and ears cropped just so they can conform to AKC?
Those clubs are useless.
