Indians are found all over the world today. They have adapted and integrated into these countries. You do not find Indians littering or dirtying public places in these countries. Yet these Indians do not follow the same code of civic ethics when in India. Why does this dicotomy exist and how do we get Indians to show civic sense in their own country.

Littering was a big problem in the US until the 1960s when an anti-littering campaign began on TV and in the elementary schools. That's when the expression"Litterbug" was started. Countries have to start with the children and raise them to believe that it's bad. Then, you'll see fast results.

This is called stereotyping, I find it very hard to believe that all indians from India do these types of things. The best thing you can do is worry about yourself and set a good example to others by not littering. It's always easy to look at other people's faults than our own. Someone once told me that the things we see in other people are actually the things we see in ourselves.

Simply because.. there is just no discipline for such things! Impose fine on those who do it.. and i mean ' a heavy fine' !! But that said, if the officials are also gonna be littering, whom can v blame?? Not the people for sure.. no.. 'cos they jus seem to be following their 'leaders'. (huh!!)

Our main problem, ANY DAY, is the population.. and with that said again, u can only not compare with the Europes.. but u can compare it with China.. they have the same prob of population as well.. and how do they cope...!!!

Anyways, I am only glad the British took time to rule us earlier, so that we are 'atleast' at this current level now... God knows where we wud have been had the British not ruled us!!

Most of the countries, they have laws for keeping the city clean and the Govt takes initiatvies to provide sufficient sanitaion and garbagge carriers to support public. Let the Indian Govt do the same. If you are an Indian, you voted this Govt..isnt it? If you are not Indian, thanks for the concern. we will look into this matter very soon.

People in America litter worse, it's just that indians often can't afford to clean the cities.

By imposing fines on people who litter and having the police flying squads conduct frequent checks.
