I had Lasik Surgery over a year ago and now I noticed after six months that one of my eyes is blurry and I see halos and I went to a doctor and they said it was dry eyes... Is this really true? When I wake up in the morning I have trouble opening my eyes, its as if I have to pry my eyes open..

Systane drops are good - my eye doctor recommended them, but they are sold over the counter. I use them at bedtime, when I get up in the night to use the bathroom, and again in the morning. I have not had Lasik, but I did have a real problem with my eyes being dry, and Systane helped a lot. My eyes felt like they had vasoline in them sometimes and blurred until I blinked the gunk out of them, and sometimes they just felt sore and gritty.

One of the side effects of Lasik is dryness. I had had dry to begin with, so I had PRK (almost the same, but different) to avoid more dryness.

I have problems in the morning when I wake up. There are some things you can do (or your doctor)

1. Have them measure your tear count. I dont know if they did this already, but they insert some little plastics for 5 mins and that's how they determine. Completely Painless.

2. Have plugs inserted, to retain tear count. If you dont have insurance (like me) I paid 150-250 dollars for both eyes. This procedure in PAINLESS, the doc does it on that little chin rest...and it takes like 5 secs per eyes. This are permanent (they fall off sometimes, of too small) and you cant see them or feel them.

3. last but not least.....they will prescribe you restasis, again if you dont have insurance, I pay 135 dollar a box at walgreens. the box contain 32 vials, you put it twice a day or however your doctor recommends it. He told me i can use one vial a day....to save money :D

well that's all I know :D Hope it helps, just make sure you lubricate your eyes through out the day :)

I had LASIK a few months ago and my right eye is sometimes blurry. But then it was blurry before the surgery so it probably has nothing to do with the surgery. My doctor also said that I have dry eyes and he gave me a prescription for Restasis.

Only ten percent of patients need enhancing surgery after their initial correction. This is determined within three to six months after the first surgery. As a rule of thumb, corrections are more common in those that had higher corrections to start with.

I don't know that it wears out, but I knew a lady that had laser surgery that worked very well, but then as she started to get older her vision did get worse, but just because she was aging and as we age our health in general goes downhill.
