So you meant to say that God is a human and needs to rest? The Quran says that everything was completed in that span of time and that God is watching over it. God is not human. We can not give Him/Her human attributes. God creates, He/She is not created. He/She does not give birth like we do, or get sick like we do. He/She just IS. Here is the entire story of creation. We do, however, celebrate the beginning of a new week on Friday. Friday is a holy day just like Sunday for Christians and Saturday for Jewish.
"The Qur’an has mentioned in several places that Allah created the Heaven and the Earth in 6 days. (Surah 7, verse 54; Surah 11, verse 7; Surah 25, verse 69; Surah 32, verse 4; Surah 50, verse 58; Surah 57, verse 4).
However, in Surah Fussilat, Allah Almighty says:
“Say: "Is it that ye deny Him Who created the earth in two Days? and do ye join equals with Him? He is the Lord of (all) the Worlds." He set on the (earth) mountains standing firm, high above it, and bestowed blessings on the earth, and measured therein all things to give them nourishment in due proportion, in four Days, in accordance with (the needs of) those who seek (sustenance). Moreover, He comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been (as) smoke: He said to it and to the earth: "Come ye together, willingly or unwillingly." They said: "We do come (together), in willing obedience." So He completed them as seven firmaments in two Days and He assigned to each heaven its duty and command. And We adorned the lower heaven with lights, and (provided it) with guard. Such is the Decree of (Him) the Exalted in Might, Full of Knowledge.” (Fussilat: 9-12)
This may give the impression that the Qur’an is talking about 8 days of creation: first two days are mentioned for the creation of earth, then four days for all things on earth, then two days for the heavens. But the commentators of the Qur’an point out that the four days mentioned in the middle include the first two days also. So in other words it is said that Allah created the earth in two days and then put its provisions in it, thus altogether four days and He created the heavens in two days. Thus the total number remains six without any inconsistency in the words of Allah.
It is important to remember that the words ‘yaum’ and ‘ayyam’ (day and days) are not used in the Qur’an always to mean a 24-hour period. The day could be as long as 1000 years (Al-Hajj 22:47) or 50,000 years (Al-Ma`arij 70:4) or more.
We should not say that Allah created the Heavens and the Earth in 6 X 24 Hours. Only Allah knows the length of the days of His creation. However, there is a Divine wisdom in mentioning 6 days and this, it seems to us, to indicate order and gradation in the creation. It also points to the power of Allah as well as His Mercy that He gave His creation this time. Everyday of the week we should thank Allah and at the end of the week we should express even more thanks and plan for the next week.
The Qur’an, however, has rejected the idea which is mentioned in the Bible that Allah created the Heaven and Earth in six days and on the seventh day He took rest. Allah says in the Qur’an: “We created the Heavens and Earth and that which is between them in six days and no fatigue touched us” (Qaf:38)

Nice Question!
Why should GOD require rest? Why should 'The Creator' require some help of the Creations.?
Almighty GOD is the Absolute, The Eternal, The All-Powerful,.
Therefore to give HIM humane attributes is a Crime against HIS status. We believe GOD is imageless and does NOT need anything for creating anything.
Almighty GOD can do 'anything' without the Material world we see and we cant do 'anything' without HIS will.

Umm, Sunday wasn't originally the Sabbath. Jews celebrate it on Saturday, and so did the early Christians (until they decided to change it to Sunday to set themselves apart from Jews more). My guess is that the Muslim reason is AT LEAST (and probably more) legitimate than that.

He is God, the creator.. why should he rest? He's the powerful God! a powerul God tired and need rest? thats ashame.
If he resting, than he is just like human, he can feel tired.. meaning he has limit.. Can God has limit?
God wont feel tired, wont drink, wont eat, wont sleep, wont die, wont sick. He has attributes that are not the same as human.
For me personally, if he can feel tired... dont u think that 1 day, he get so bored and tired of us.. he just destroy us all and just forget his promises?
well.. God is nothing like human.

Muslims don't believe in the sabbath because it is not in the quran, only in the bible - just like Jesus is the messiah, but only in the bible, and not in the quran. To believe in these things is heresy to muslims.

We believe Message in the bible has been corrupted,Allah says in Surah Al Baqra(chapter 2 of Quran)
"Yet were your hearts hardened even after that, till they were as stones or harder still, for verily of stones are some from which streams burst forth, and of them there are some that burst asunder and the water issues out, and of them there are some that fall down for fear of God; but God is never careless of what ye do.
Do ye crave that they should believe you when already a sect of them have heard the word of God and then perverted it after they had understood it, though they knew?
And when they meet those who believe they say, 'We believe,' but when one goes aside with another they say, 'Will ye talk to them of what God has opened up to you, that they may argue with you upon it before your Lord? Do ye not therefore understand?' Do they not then know that God knoweth what they keep secret and what they make known abroad?
And some of them there are, illiterate folk, that know not the Book, but only idle tales; for they do but fancy. But woe to those who write out the Book with their hands and say 'this is from' God; to buy therewith a little price! and woe to them for what their hands have written, and woe to them for what they gain!
And then they say, 'Hell fire shall not touch us save for a number of days.' Say, 'Have ye taken a covenant with God?' but God breaks not His covenant. Or do ye say of God that which ye do not know"
According to our belief,Allah does not need rest..!!!
we know that He is Self-sufficient or Self-subsistent, and Everlasting or, to use a Quranic term, Al-Qayyum: “He is the First and the Last.”
The Creator does not create only in the sense of bringing things into being, He also preserves them and takes them out of existence and is the ultimate cause of whatever happens to them.
“God is the Creator of everything. He is the guardian over everything. Unto Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth.” (Quran 39:62-63)
And God says:
“No creature is there crawling on the earth, but its provision rests on God. He knows its lodging place and its repository.” (Quran 11:16)

I have no idea, perhaps we can ask them about the lack of freedom for 50%+ of the human race as well, seeing as how they don't believe women are equal to men. Oh and by the way: without women there would be no human species.
