If we are His children then He will chastise us, because He loves us. A Father will correct His children. If you are not a child of God then the way of punishment is Hell. God allows things in our lives to draw us closer to Him. He don't like punishing us, but He don't like sin either. We all have to stand before the Lord in the end.

God can punish you whenever he chooses to. If, for example, you ask a question on Yahoo Answers, and he reads it and doesn't like it, he could punish you if he wanted to.
He has all the options. Unless there is no God.

god dont punish man all mans problems are caused by man,
even the weather today is man caused
god has grace ,he is eternal and omipresent ,meaning he was there making you to live ,gave us his sun that all created see the light that sustains us all to life ,to see the life in others is gifted and sustained of gods love
did you tell your heart to beat its every beat
did you tell your lungs to take every breath
did you say to that seed to grow
god did it is time to give back to god that he gave each of us of love to live
take our own blame ,dont blame god or satan ,its us who wrong us ,after we shed this skin and are born again god shows us grace and yet more love
such a faithfull servant ,just as jesus revealed he who would lead you shall serve you[as our god serves all of us to live]

The NT says He disciplines those He loves, so when we pass on it is good that all of our sins won't follow us.

reason we suffer/die is because humanity rebelled from God. Yet, God sent Jesus Christ to save those who believe in him and allow them eternal life with him in heaven. The lesson, we should listen to god (instead of ourselves) if we wish to live happy.
