the hdmi cable that i bought was the one thats $100 & is exclusively for the ps3

I believe the hdmi cable is just a normal cable, just longer. If your tv have an hdmi input then it should not be a problem.

The sony HDMI cable made by sony is a cheap cable.Your bettr off buying a HDMI cable from just about anywhere.Try the HDMI cable made by monster cable.There are about 3-4 diff. models ranging from 60 bucks up to 200 bucks the more pricey ones,madewith golds tips are suppose to give you a bettr connection,i bought the less expensive one and was quite pleased.Also this type of connection is mostly found in the newer tv models.

If you have a hdmi jack on your tv. Hdmi connections are usually found on most higher end hdtv or hd ready tvs
