I am attractive and have youngish looks. It is hard to find someone I am interested in who is my age. I am kinda immature in a good way but a responsible guy. My friends have always been younger than me. I am very interested in a girl in highschool and she seems to return the same interest. I wanna ask her Dad for permission. What should I expect from him. What do you think of someone my age dating an 18 year old?

I will answer you straight out . . . if she is of legal age . . . then yes, you can date . . . and eventually marry her.

But . . . You knew there was going to be one . . . but actually there is more than one thing.

1) Stereotypes - Her parents, other people your age . . . will look down at you . . . calling you a cradlerobber, dirty-old man, and other names that may get me suspended from yahoo, so I won't place them here.

2) Maturity - You, yourself said, that you were kinda immature . . . imagine her . . . she just turned 18 . . . she is just starting to mature. In 10 years, she will be different than the girl you started going out with. Just warning you . . . it could be a problem, especially if she starts thinking what if . . . and believe me in about 10 years . . . you do start thinking about the what ifs and what you believe you could have done to make your life better.

3) To attract an 18 yr old, you must have a decent education and a good position . . . it is not just good looks . . . some girls are after bling bling, and if you have it, they want it. So, don't get too attached, and if you do . . . get a prenupt and always use protection.

4) Education . . . She is 18 years old . . . does she have plans on going to college, will you let her go to college. If she does have plans and her dreams are to go to college, let her. But don't pay for her college. Take her out, have a good time . . . but don't pay for her education, that is her parent's job and her's alone. She may try to string you along to get her a good place to stay and to pay for her education. You think I am kidding, girls are taught that early . . . girls are attracted to 3 things . . . Money, Wealth, Fame . . . not all girls, but the majority are.

Look, I want you to ask someone else . . . he is the professor. Tom Leykis . . . Thursday evening is Leykis 101 . . . and you can call him with this question . . . ask him about the drawback and women. If you have a successful career, and want a trophy . . . go for it . . . but make sure you have a prenupt.

Dang, I don't know where you are located . . . so I can't give you the Station he is on . . . but you can listen to him on-line . . . he is on Mon-Fri . . . 3 pm Pacific time. The website is http://www.blowmeuptom.com and to call him it is 1-800-5-800-TOM. It is toll free for domestic (US) calls. Go to the web site and click onto the listen live link in the upper right corner of the page . . .

If I was you, I would wait until she is in college first. I was 31 when I met my current girlfriend who was only 19 at the time. We where friends first and did not start to date until almost a year later. We have been together now for 4 years. Her parents and extended family has not had any problems with either my age or the fact that I was married before.

I would at least wait until she is graduated from High School before doing anything than having a talk with the dad after you talked with her to make sure that she wants to date an older guy. That is one of the biggest hangups with my girlfriend is our age difference.

Well, it is perfectly legal if that is what you are asking. and asking permission shouldn't hurt, it may even help. I don't know how the dad will react cuz I don't know the dad. I personally don't think anything unethical would be involved in that. I think you should go for it, the worst that could happen is he doesn't like the idea, and you have to wait 'til she is out of the house. But there are alot of people who have EONS of age between them.

If you don't ask, you will never know. I think that would be worse than knowing it is forbidden. Cuz then you know you at least tried.

Just because it's not illegal does not mean that it's cool.
Since you asked I would assume you're like Donald Trumph...since he always gets younger chicks. I'd assume you might be taking advantage of her knowledge or experience...or lack there of.

Try finding a chick that's at lest in her mid twenties with a little more knowledge or experience under her belt.
But that's just my 2 cents worth.
However that is sweet of you to ask her dad for permission.
peace.

they will freak! At that age it looks bad... but as u get older the gap lessens and lessens... I dont think her dad is going to be too impressed, unless u get to know the family and prove urself as a really great guy... then it would be easire...but doubt u have a chance...cos withou knowing u...they are just gonna think u r a guy wanting a young girl.... "dirty old man" in otherwords... it is just how it goes at that sort of age!

A girl that is still in high school is still an immature young person. I feel like someone that age is not ready to get married.
If you really like her I think you should wait on marriage for awhile and just date her. If its meant to be it will happen.

When I was 32 I was dating a young woman of 20, it was a hassle and we really did not have anything in common. I had been places, done things and figured alot out about myself but she was just starting that journey in life. I believe that it is not always a good thing but I don't know either of you and would just say to be very careful and think it out completely. "Good Luck Buddy!"

Sorry to say , he might not like you very much. He will think your just after some young tail. Be realistic you know this relationship will not work. I understand wanting someone younger but you know that this girl has not lived yet, she will want to do things that young kids want to do. Just look for someone else

Its a tad bit weird but its not illegal because she is an adult but her father might take it the wrong way and think you wanna use her so it might take you a while to gain her respect for you but in the end it should work out if you both have feelings for eachother

I don't know about her father, but I know for certain my dad would be scrambling for his shot gun. And if she likes you, I say go for it. But, the generation gap between 18 and 31 is pretty large, so you should proceed with caution.
