I know the health benefits of eating whole wheat vs white.
Is there a huge difference in taste, texture, etc?

They taste very similar to me. I've become accustomed to whole wheat pasta and actually prefer it now.

There's a brand called "Al Dente" that carries a whole wheat pasta and it's especially great. You might find it in the whole foods section. Worth the extra $. :)

IMO whole wheat has a *slightly* bitter taste and a rough texture. It's not a huge obstacle and after a while you begin liking it better. Sometimes I'm in the mood for one, sometimes the other. Whole wheat goes well with acidic tomato-based sauces, white goes well with light cream sauces. That's just my opinion.

I tried Barilla and Healthy Harvest brand whole wheat pasta and didn't like either. IMHO it is more chewy (even rubbery, although cooked according to the package instructions) than regular pasta and has an unpleasant, kind of "earthy", taste, which even tomato sauce and cheese couldn't completely cover up.

There really isn't a huge difference in taste. you'll never even notice. The texture is about the same. You will get fuller faster, however.
