I know basic ASL.. I took a class in college . I want to take the advanced class so I can use it throughly but can't afford it. It's actually a shame that every college doesn't offer it or at least that it's not offered by someone in every city.. I really enjoyed learning it.. I had a chance to use it one time and it was amazing.. I can't imagine living a world and not being able to hear or communicate with anyone .. Deafness is not their choice..

Anyone ELSE? -I imagine there's lots of people on Yahoo who are ASL users. I'm deaf myself and also teach it. ASL is, believe it or not, the FOURTH most-used language in America! Modern ASL is really a mixture of old American sign language -used before the 1800's, mainly on Martha's Vineyard- Old French Sign Language, and a smattering of old British Sign Language. Plus, it has influence from other sign languages, just like the American version of spoken English. It's a language in itself, and recognized as a "foreign language" for credit in most American colleges and universties today.

here is the meaning of the ASL question.
A age (1 to 1000)
S sex (male or female)
L location (where you live)

when people get on line and want to make friends they normally want to know these things and instead of asking for each one separately they use these letters instead to cut back on time.

I think she means American Sign Language, not a/s/l.
