The Emperor of the Prussian Empire present day (Germany and a part of Poland), allied with the Austro-Hungarian Empire had been working more or less continuously from about 1890 or so to undo possibly one of the greatest political treaty systems and achievements of the 1800's the Prussian treaty system developed and implemented primarily by the administration of Chancellor Bismark was a method of "keeping the peace" in Europe, while small wars broke out, the "threat" of various combinations of allies going to war kept the peace for almost 40 years.

Primarily due to the assasination of the Archduke of Austro-Hungary, and the subsequent military actions (several days/weeks later) in "reaction" on the part of Prussia and Austro-Hungary against Serbia caused Russia and France (secret allies) to declare war on the "Central" powers. England then joined and then finally the US.

Well, the treaties that were in effect when the Archduke Ferdinand was killed was the main factor of the war starting in the first place. Austria had a treaty with germany, and russia had one with serbia, so when germany declared war on serbia, russia delcared war on germany and so on and so forth

WWI wasnt referred to as that untill WWII because why would you provide soemthign a huge determination once you do not recognize if there'll be a 2d one? It grow to be referred to as the excellent conflict because this grow to be the first conflict to have that many countries enticing in it. yet then years later, there grow to be yet another conflict very comparable to it and international conflict II had a more suitable constructive ring than large conflict II so we've WWI and WWII.

One of the official catalysts to World War I was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand of Serbia. This triggered an invasion of Serbia by Austria-Hungary and many of the other European countries took one side or another.

There are many factors that led to war, but what finally set it off was the assassination of Archduke Frans Ferdinand by a terrorist group called the Black Hand.
