What is the board or wooden cover on the top of windows/curtains called? You usually see them in hotels/motels.They are on top of the curtains.It goes from one side of the window to the other.I was 'trying' to redecorate or make one.I dont know what they are called though.Sorry if your confused about the question.:)

what is a --- VALANCE! I'm sure of it.
it's made of wood, some cover it w/ fabric to match the curtain / blinds.
good luck! just don't forget to measure it correctly, the last time my hubby did that for me, we ended up having a permanent cannot-laundry-curtain. lol! u should alot a space for the curtain (let's say d rod) to take it out & in again.

It is called a cornice board. You can also upholster them with batting and fabric.
