My boyfriends dog is scheduled to get put down tommorow and meanwhile he keeps getting worse now he seems to be bleeding from i guess his rectum, we are taking him first thing in the morning but what i want to know is could there be any danger to us or worse to my baby like maybe he has some kind of disese like samonilla or something, please this may sound stupid or funny but it freaks me out to have this animal peeing and bleeding all over the house!

I would keep the dog and its fluids away from the baby, ask the vet in the morning if anything is contagius/harmful your baby, then clean the heck out of the house, something with a good disinfectant/sterilizer would probably be the best. Sorry about the loss of you dog as well.

no. i doubt very much the vet would have released the dog from his office if he felt the dog was in anyway a danger to you or your family. assuming he has seen the dog recently , and not just a phone call to schedule the procedure. messy ? yep i can guess it would be but not harmful. you dont mention why he is to be put down but perhaps the blood/peeing is one of the symptoms of the problem.

I wouldn't suggest keeping your baby in the same area, just in case there is a bacteria lingering in the urine or blood. It might be best to keep the dog in an area which can be easily disinfected for tonight, and tomorrow, after he is put down (the poor thing :( ), you can use clorax diluted with water, or some other bacteria killer, to disinfect the floors and baseboards.

it depends on what ur boyfriends dog has been diagnosed with. i assume it was something as i guess it wouldnt be being put down if it was something fixable. if it is something which as catchable then yes, i would be worried. even if its not catchy then blood still isnt good to have lying around near a baby.

dont deny ur boyfriend quality time with his dog on its last day on the planet by putting it outside or something, just be on guard with ur baby and make sure it doesnt touch the blood or anything.

hope i helped!!

If you have an animal ER in your area call them because they will be more than happy (I hope) to tell you if you and your baby are in danger or not. If you call a human hospital they will not tell you anything unless you go in (I think that is really stupid) because all you want is some information.

why is he being put down? old age or is he sick?
danger to your kid is only if yoru dog has something contagious to people and the kid is eating the poop... so its really unlikely if its an age thing

honestly most vets have emergency - after hour care.. and can put the dog down now... but unless you know whats making the dog sick I suggest you find out - if somebody poisoned the dog.. they may try to poison you or the baby?

poor doggie

Sounds like internal bleeding to me- as long as he wasn't in contact with a lot of wildlife, there is only a very very slight risk of it being zoonotic (dog to human transmission). Very few diseases can transfer from dog to human and most are extremely rare and the ones I know of do not come from internal bleeding- your vet would tell you if it was contagious. 99.9% of them aren't.

OMG, sounds like he was either poisoned or had some sort of cancer that broke open inside (we've had both happen with our animals). your animal will probably be gone by morning, no, it's nothing to be afraid of, just very sad

not a vet, but i highly doubt there is a danger to any humanes.
that said, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEEEEEASE try to find an emegency vet and try to put him/her out of his/her missery. i know it's hard, but try to take pity and don't make him/her suffer thru the night. if nothing else u'll have less to clean up...
