As per my dictionary (I'm not English mother tongue) the noun
'babe' has the following meanings (with he corresponding translation into Italian):
A baby, an infant. = bambino (in fasce),neonato,creatura.
An innocent or naive person = Ingenuo,semplice,non sofisticato
A young woman = ragazza,ragazzina.
Sweetheart, dear= Dolcezza,tesoro,mia cara,bambola.

I don't know which you prefer but that's all we have for 'babe'
