Long and hot hours since you do a lot of baking.always on your feet, in and out of cold walk in fridges in the hotel kitchens. make sure you wear an under shirt to absorb your sweat, this way you dont catch a cold as oftens.Lots of hotels now have frozen dough to make ther crousants, danishes and muffins. But if you are creatieve and don't mind hard wok go for it.been there, done that.good luck

A good profession where you need skills and talent. If you love to whip up deserts and have a sweet tooth, go for it. The satisfaction that you get when someone loves your desert with the smiles on their face is rewarding apart from the good remuneration package. I'm not a desert lover but i love to see when the patissier showcase their creativity in the desert that made. It is a form of art for me too.

I think that if you have the God given talent in your fingers , Go for it.
In the absence of such talent , you're wasting your time.
All of us who went to school figured out
somewhere in our second semester of baking whether or not we had the "it " required to become pastry Chefs- most of us didn't.
Good luck

If you love to cook and don't mind working long hard hours it could be a wonderful career. Remember that very few people make any real money at this and it really does take long hard hours, especially in the beginning.
Best of luck.

It requires alot of patience and preciseness as well as imagination. I have lived abroad and am an American. Nothing compares to the pastries of Europe. We could use alot more.
