"I want you to just let a wave of intolerance wash over you. I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good. Our goal is a Christian nation. We have a biblical duty, we are called by God to conquer this country. We don't want equal time. We don't want pluralism". - Randall Terry, Founder of Operation Rescue

I checked the quote. It's from 1993. That was an era when the blockades of abortion clinics were hot and heavy.

I found the following quote about Terry from the Washington Post in a 2005 article when he reappeared trying to keep Terry Schiavo alive:

"Subtlety wasn't Terry's thing -- he described Planned Parenthood's founder, Margaret Sanger, as a "whore" and an "adulteress" and arranged to have a dead fetus presented to Bill Clinton at the 1992 Democratic National Convention."

The man's a demagogue.

Randall Terry is probably a very emotionally disturbed person. The church to which he belonged for more than 10 years dismissed him from the congregation. His son also came out as a homosexual and Terry disowned him. He is definitely a fanatical zealot and is probably on the verge of getting himself into serious trouble with the law. I strongly suspect he will be the next evangelical to be prosecuted for income tax evasion or some other crime.

Very horrible. Someone actually wrote a book about these people. It's called "American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America". I like to promote literacy, so I recommend reading it.

The people who make statements like this would love a theocracy. I shudder at the thought of politics and religion together. Combine idiots with religious mania and what do you get? The Crusades, the Inquisition, Salem, etc.

Pleasant dreams!

Yeah, he's one of those restoration guys. Their position has some literal credibility, but true believers don't live by the letter but by the Spirit. The way I see it, they have taken a legalistic, analytical approach to scripture and are in the same boat with the Pharisees and Sadducees that Jesus couldn't get through to. I see it as idolatry, but that's just me. It seems that they have substituted their programs for humble servanthood.

Our goal cannot be "a Christian nation".....this country was founded for the very reason of allowing people the right to worship as they see fit -- IF they even choose to worship at all. People fought and died for that right. Risked death on the high seas to get here for this very reason. And now we have to impose Christianity on others? Rubbish! I am a devout Catholic. I welcome Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, pagans and atheists to be here in our nation right along with me. Many are more "Christ-like" than I am!!!!! And in those respects, they HAVE chosen Jesus Christ -- they just are not aware of it!!!!! They will probably get into heaven before me as well. Jesus says "no-one comes to the Father but through me"....not "through faith in me".

Those attributes described above are not the attributes of the fruit of The Spirit. They do not belong. Love is not present in that quote or idea. PEACE!!!
