I would like some infromation about prozac, and seroquel. Long term use and side effects. I have a family member thats on both medications and Xanax. He has memory loss. He gets up in the middle of the night cooks food-Doesnt eat it and goes back to sleep. Not even knowing that he did it? Nobody has Diagnosed him with a particular disease. They have said, anxiety, depression, and I dont know whats going on with him. He has been seeing a psychatrist for the past 4 months and still no change. Can anyone please help with this situation? Anyone ever taken These medications-Xanax,Seroquel,Valium,Paxil,Prozac,Vistiral did you have certain side effects?

My brother is mentally ill and it took years for his illness to come under control. Four months with a psychiatrist is a pretty short time. It will take months and months for the medications to start showing real improvement. The doctor is probably still trying to find the right medications and dosage to help your family member. Then your family member has to be diligent in taking the prescribed course.

This is a fairly long process and I admire that you are concerned and wanting answers. The psychiatrist is your best resource to talk with. They know the patient and the history. They also need to know what's going on in your family members habits and actions. A lot of time they only know what the patient is telling them. Which isn't always reliable.

The psychiatrist might not be able to talk directly to you about your family member because of confidentiality. But they can address your concerns and answer your questions.

OK first off Seroquel is an anti-psychotic and is very potent. IT has the ability to knock you out and make you sleep for hours like 16+

I feel this drug should not be used in conjunction with xanax. They both bring you down to low. Now xanax can be an additive to depression so there is a concern. Furthermore Xanax is related to roffies! Remember the old date rape drug now banned? Well Xanax is the legal closest strength to roofies in a pill form. Xanax can and does to EVERYONE cause black outs, sleep walking and memory loss while on the drug. If this person abuses the drug by taking more than he or she should than allo wme to explain to you half life of it. WHen you take 1mg of xanax you will feel certain effects for say an hour or two if you take more the first dose is in your system for 6 hours plus. It reactivates the prior dose and is working with the second dose. When you reach 2mg and go beyond this is when you get in that dangerous area of black outs.

Prozac only affect seratonin levels. However it could effect the Seroquel I would not know withhout hitting a DR ref book.

Yes, I have taken all the above meds. Prozac is fine and shouldn't be causing him these problems. It is not an addictive drug...however caution must be taken when coming off it. seroquel and valium are both relaxants.....and i know...if i take too much i do strange things and often don't remember doing them in the morning! It sounds to me as if your family member is on too high a dose....perhaps he should see his dr about reducing the dose....making episodes lie this less likely. Valium is addictive, and the body becomes tolerant to it...meaning you need more and more to get the same effect over time. (Xanax is the same) I suggest trying to be weaned off these benzodiazepines (as they are called) and perhaps try some alternative methods of anxiety reduction/relaxation.

psychological. In my grandpa's very previous couple of months, maximum cancers and Alzheimer's hit him puzzling, and both round an same time. i'd were more suitable mushy if he would have reported see you later to us at his deathbed in some style or trend. fairly, we weren't even certain if he knew we loved him a lot and understood our goodbyes at his deathbed. The concepts is a lot more suitable efficient than the body. It connects us emotionally and spiritually with some thing else obtainable. The body can ruin down, notwithstanding the concepts and know-how always being modern-day is a lot more suitable comforting. .

if you don't see a change I would switch doctors as that's what I did with my dad and then I got results. Call your pharmacist and ask him about the side effects of those medications and he could tell you more but I would really start looking around for a different doctor.

Each of these medications can be researched on GOOGLE.
They'll even give you the reasons for prescribing it.
Prozac has proven NOT to be helpful for 3 people I know.

The doctor should be kept informed.

Sounds like one of the meds doesn't agree w/ him or maybe his dosage is too high. Those meds are all depressants (well, Prozac not as much as the other two) and the combination can be pretty intense.

He should tell his dr. this stuff!
