Pudding and applesauce are good. Gogurt or yogurt would be good too. I have braces and it is not a big deal. And it will only be for about a week or less.

although a lot of people say soft foods, most younger more modernized orthodontists say to eat what you normally eat(except things that would break the brackets). The reason that your teeth are sore is because for the first few days of having braces, the roots of your teeth are actually moving in your gums. By eating regular food (AND CHEWING A LOT OF SUGARFREE GUM) it will help your teeth move faster and the pain will not last at long and will not be as severe. So the best thing you can do is push through the pain and eat....
i also learned throught experience that the best thing to eat is ham sandwhiches from subway or quizno. its the right consistency

Mashed potatoes, naners (bananas), applesauce, anything you can easily cut up.
Try to avoid hamurgers with lettuce, as it can be quite annoying when you cannot bite through it.
Also, gum IS a no-no but if you REALLLLY want gum, get the sugar free kind, it's really good, cleans your teeth, and once you learn to chew it right, won't get stuck in your braces!
You should be ok in a few days, so don't worry!
Sheena
Also, take plenty of Ibuprofin (advil).
It's an anti-inflammatory and will help lots with the pain from braces.
And if you have any wires sticking out, don't wait till your next appointment, call the ortho. It'll safe you lots of pain and frustration! :-D

anything really. With the exception of corn on the cob, apples that are not cut, peanut brittle or any hard stick stuff. You're teeth probably hurt so i would go with soft foods. Maybe a sandwich. I had braces for four years but that was a while back so i don't really remember. oh yeah and i chewed gum and nothing happened.

I've had braces for a while, and don't eat anything hard. Eat soups, jello, noodles, etc. NOTHING that requires a lot of chewing. It's painful trying to eat chips and such. Oh and pick foods that won't get caught in your braces. People would much rather see your food on your plate than in your teeth.

After a few days you will be eating fine, but at first stick to soups, pudding, jello, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. Then move on to a nice soft sandwich like pb&j

yes.. its better to have soft diet first.. so some food are porridge, soups, noodles n tofu... some bread would be too hard to bite. I recommend porridge being the best. As for snacks, take soft chestnuts and keep away from biscuits or anything that is hard...

Soft stuff, your teeth will be a little sensitive for a few days. If there is a microwave you can use, I'd recommend macaroni and cheese or something like that.

Try apple sauce or soups or maybe soft breads.
Also if you're in a lot of pain most orthodonists will prescribe pain medication.
