Breathe, breathe in the air.
Don't be afraid to care.
Leave but don't leave me.
Look around and choose your own ground.
Long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be.
Run, rabbit run.
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done
Don't sit down it's time to dig another one.
For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race towards an early grave.
Breathe ~ Pink Floyd
So what do you think? Spiritual or not? What do you think it's trying to say?

stinkypants2u, you probably gave me the funniest answer ever, just from your stupidity. Pink Floyd was a BAND. Meaning more than one person, none of whom were named Pink Floyd. And I fail to see how drug use can prevent you from being spiritual. On the contrary, it has often been said to make you more so. I can vouch for that, at least.

Don't start with me, WHITE TRASH ARMENIAN. You're the one with no sense of humor.

Its really hard not to be biased in this manner, but having kids, it makes me think of them, letting them make their own mistakes, watching them fail and learn and succeed. wanting to warn them not to make the same mistakes I've made, but knowing that's how i learned it. (and warning them anyway)
[edit] - I suppose in a spiritual context, it'd be a good anology for GOD giving us our free will...?

Of course. Pink Floyd is all spiritual. A very bleak spirituality (well, OK, it wasn't bleak before Meddle, it was just really tripped out).
I was just meditating on the profound spirituality of "Wish You Were Here." If only I could have absorbed it earlier in life.
"Breathe" to me is about being torn between our hunger for meaning and connection, and our sense of life's ultimate and inescapable futility.

In all seriousness...
Yes, I think it's a bit spiritual. It's supposed to be like a parent or a grandparent talking to a baby, giving it advice. I guess it could be interpreted as the Creator sending his creations to Earth.

To me it says that life is all about working and dying. Living, working, dying. Don't take breaks, just pass go and collect your $200. Spiritual? Not sure.

hmm...i think syd barret is trying to express humanity's free spirit, it's many choices through life - and yes, one of these could be one's choice in religion or spirituality.
also, i think he was touching on how one is oppressed throughout life - the stanza about the rabbit digging a hole..."don't sit down, it's time to dig another one" could be talking about how everyone will be told what to do until they die.

We all know that Pink Floyd was one messed up individual. The songs were written while high on drugs.

I think you're ticking away the moments that make up a dull day yourself, masked person with no sense of humor. Oh, blow me girl wonder. You smell like skank, and reek of gender confusion.
