Take it to a local computer repairer in your local area and they will take a look for you.

Could only require a solder in a couple of spots to fix the problem if it is not able to be fixed that way a new board would be required.

To take a look around $45 or so
To replace the main board any were from the cost of the board plus installation so around $150 upwards
To replace the soundcard probably around $70 plus as the card has to be ordered in especially for that main board plus labor

I would suspect about $35 to $75 for a replacement sound card and $150 to $250 for labor.
If I were you I would download the manuals for your computer. Some components are fairly easy to replace and you may very well be able to do it your self.
Good luck.

It seems like "they" usually charge about 65-75 bucks for the starting rate....even to plug it in.

They have to take the laptop apart anyway, to get to the problem. It should be under $75, though.
