HAHAHA! That is so funny..Look, hon, I am a professional piercer-I am sure what the man was saying was that he wouldnt pierce a 14 year old. In most places, you have to be at least 15 with parental consent and some places, you cant even do that.
If he was serious, DO NOT LET HIM PIERCE YOU-HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT! If he is that uneducated that he would hand out advice such as that, he is not going to be a good piercer. And although lots of people think piercing doesnt take anything, it does and you will notice a huge difference between a good piercing and a bad.

No. The skin may move a little and the piercing could migrate but you can get it done before you are done growing. Nothing bad about it. I think he just didn't want a very young teen getting a piercing just yet. Ask other places to see what they say but I've never heard that. It sounds fishy to me.

As for the growing part...
There is an increased risk during different stages of adolescent growth. Children under 16 are at a higher risk to reject a piercing (jewelry migrates outside instead of healing.)
So that piercer was completly correct in saying to come back when you're older. Besides naval piercings take 6-12 months to fully heal and most piercers don't feel someone as young as you are really ready to care for your piercing.

It's the truth. As you grow, your organs do to. And the skin is the body's largest organ.
You don't have to wait, but it is HIGHLY suggested, because if you grow after you get it pierced, it could put the bar in a weird or painful position or stretch the hole weirdly.

I have sold belly rings to girls who looked like they couldn't have been more than 13 or 14 so i know you don't HAVE to wait. my guess would be that it is more a matter of comfort. if you're growing it may stretch a little so you would have to make sure it doesn't get infected and it might be uncomfortable for a few days but nothing major.

I know in Ontario most piercing parlours either can't or won't do peircings until you are 16... probably the same reasoning there. I wouldn't push it either. I had my bellybutton pierced, took it out, and now all I have left is a horrible scar.
Two years to think about it could be good...

it is a good idea to wait. period. piercings and tattoos will always be there waiting for you when you are done running around being a kid, and not gettin your belly button ring caught on something like a four wheeler or treehouse.
