Well, depending on what religion you ask, Jesus was either himself God, or he was half-human and half-divine and some say that Jesus was just a man. Catholics believe in the humanity as well as the divinity of Jesus. Now, Jesus is prayed to because he is the human manifestation of God, hence he would be a more accessible figure in terms of petitioning than would be God who is incomprehensible. In the history of the Catholic faith, Jesus was very important because before him, no one was allowed into heaven (since everyone suffered from original sin [long story]). Jesus, however allowed souls' passageways into heaven.

So the answer, really.... is...

"Depends who you ask."

Yes, Jesus was a man, but in body only. His father was God, therefore He had the soul of God. (Luke 1:26-35). God became a man through Mary in order to live as a man, to suffer the same day to day things that we have suffered from the beginning.

Because Jesus had the body of a man, being born through a woman, he suffered the same things we do...hunger, thirst, pain, ... He also shared the same emotions we do. In the Gospel of John 2:13-17 Jesus became angry because the Jews had turned the temple into, basically, a flea market. in John 11:35 Jesus felt extreme sadness and wept because of the lack of faith of those around him. In Matthew 27:46 Jesus had great fear because he felt abandoned by God, His father.

In the book of Revelation it says the everyone that has ever lived will be judged by God. How could God judge us without ever having lived as one of us? God became a man and lived as one of us in order to be a righteous judge.

"What if "have u ever heard that song? what if he wasn't just another nice guy? and u wasted all this time ...better for a man to give all his riches than to lose his soul!

I really feel you know the answer because you wouldn't have asked? you know the power of our savior and but you reallyhave been given all the knowledge.

Pick a bible and read it .. ask God to forgive you for not understanding and knowing his true works.

Peter denied God 3 times before was overcome by the HOLY SPIRIT. i bet you will bethe strongest spirtual advisior one day just because your like David??????????? a man after God own heart? Are u?

Find a church home the small pentacostal church you can find... stay focus on your salvation and not the people in the church.
Try GOD for yourself...and he will do the rest

.

Jesus laid down his life for us a to think many years later there's still doubt..
i hope you are given the knowledge of Christ before the endof your days.

Lord forgive those who do not know you fill their heart and soul and take control of the neg. thoughts

I wish people would not use partial scriptures to prove a point. Jesus became man, and that man was God. Jesus is the God of the old testament. The Godhead is made up of God-The Father, God-The Son and God The Holy Ghost. One Godhead, one in purpose. Jesus is our Savior and will stand up for us when we are called to judgment. The only way to The Father is through Jesus. There is no other way.

Jesus was sent down on Earth PERFECT. He was God's son and no he was ALWAYs "mr. nice guy". If you read in the Bible Jesus says whenever you pray to pray in his name. He wasn't a normal human being he was Jesus Christ born of a virgin. I know I havent answered your question very well but faith isn't knowing it's believeing. However, if you don't find the answer I would recommend going to www.concoxions.com and email the man over it. He is awesome and i'm sure he could give you an explination from the Bible.

Jesus was not mean, but he did offend many people. The things he said were not always "nice" as you will read the scriptures. Jesus loved righteous people but also loved the unrighteous enough to believe that they could change and be better. Although Jesus offended people who needed to stop doing something wrong, in hind sight the friend that helps you straiten up and become better is the true friend. Those that lie to flatter you don't help you grow or become better in any way. Jesus wants us all to look at our lives with a critical eye to see where we can improve, I believe that his faith in our ability to be better was one of the greatest lessons he taught. But hey, change is usualy painful, its much easier for the moment to be lazy and avoid pain.

I recomend the road less traveled by M. Scott Peck, M.D. I think he talks much about the lesson of love christ was trying to teach, but the book is not really a religious book, it is about the human spirit and also includes lots of information you can relate to.

As far as your question about why we pray to god, it is first to humble us, secondly to ask for help and thridly to receive guidence. I have had many prayers answered when I prayed in faith. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS or Mormon), I pray to god (not jesus) but we love and follow the savior as we believe he is the living son of God.
I also recomand reading The Book of Mormon to learn more about christ, god and how our heavenly father's plan can bring eternal happiness.

no he wasnt, i forget the exact location, but there was the instance that the temple was being used as a casino, and the commoners were casting lots, jesus "drove them out" with a stick. like "drove them out" over the head. even if he didnt actually hit anybody, he still succumbed to rage.

ah, here it is. Matthew 21:12, John 2:15. a whip actually, not a stick.

ok i can explain a lil but i sugest you read the BIBLE it explains everything about that that you can know.

But ok ill explain as much as i can at the time.
ok you know how God created everything. well God is 3 in 1 the is the father son holy spirit the son is Jesus. We believe in Jesus because though him we go to heaven and be with God. God sent His son Jesus to earth to save us. He was crusified by the romans and by dieing he forgave us of all of our sins. then 3 days later he rose from the dead and told his followers that he would come back and for them to spread and teach the truth and that no one comes to the father except though Me(though Jesus) and then he went into heaven until he returns and everyone that asked him into there lives go to heaven with him. so when we ask him into our lives it insures us that we can go to heaven and be with God forever.

thats just the begining you need to know that and believe it and in jesus to go to heaven.

you really need to read the bible and go to chuch i recamend a baptist one

Read Acts 4:12 in case I get this wrong.....Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. This is why we pray to Jesus.
