Pugs have a lot of energy. Cocker spaniels are good medium sized dogs. Check out dogbreedinfo.com and it will give you information about different kinds of dogs and how they would fare inside.

The first thing you have to consider before deciding is how much time the dog will spend at home alone. Some dogs do well if they are home alone a lot but others do not tolerate being left for long periods of time.
The next thing to consider is shedding and allergic reactions. There are a couple of breeds that have hair not fur such as poodles. Poodles also come in 4 different sizes and are very intelligent and easy to train but do not like to be left alone.

First I hope you can get the dog of your dreams....they are so comforting to have sitting on your lap, or jumping on your bed and lying besides you....you can talk to them, tell them your secrets and they won't tell anyone else. We had dogs in the past but now they are in "doggie heaven" . I hope to get another in the near future.
First let me say they do need attention when it comes to their health and grooming. If you are able to do these things then you would be a good dog owner. My suggestions would be a poodle, they do not shed, they are very clean, they are easy to train. We had two in the past and I would get another one without any doubt. They do need to be taken to a groomer for their haircuts but it's worth every penny. We also had 2 beagle hounds and we loved them but they need more room to run and jump around. I hope after you read all the replies you get the dog you want because they are just like a family member and everyone in the house will love them. Good luck!

I would get a French Bulldog. They are a lot like a Pug but they tend to be a little more mellow and easygoing. Also they are better with kids, and they do not shed as bad.

Try a "maltees" or maltez, I am not sure how it is spelled, but it is pronounced Mall- tease. It is a small dog with long hair. And I do mean actually hair. My aunt has one and it is a special breed bred for people with allergies, because it does not shed. She also has a very good personality, but likes to be sort of pampered.

Pugs are cute and short haired. Miniature poodles are nice, playful and very intelligent...plus hypoallergenice to a degree since they almost don't shed.

I have a dachshund they're good indoor dogs, don't take up that much space, and are usually fun and well behaved at the same time.
