Your computer's problem is an easy fix. Insert your (presumably) XP CD. Do a system restore, once you boot from the disk. Follow the instructions. Should resolve your problem. All your settings, apps, documents, etc should still be there, minus maybe what caused the problem.

You will have to re-install your Operating System. Without this file, your computer will not run. Visit the Microsoft Website or your computer manufactures site for detailed instructions by your OS Type. Good Luck!

boot the computer and as soon as the splash screen comes on, press F12 (boot safe mode) when the list of options comes on, you want to run a system repair. If you have the original cd of the operating system, place that in the cd drive and boot the computer. Tell the computer to boot from cd and run a repair from there. hope this helps you.

Try a Repair from the Windows cd.

If this doesn't work, you have to reinstall windows, either by using a backup cd or by formatting and doing a "clean" install. You can use something like Knoppix (www.knoppix.org) to get your data out of the hard-disk.

Are you sure thats the correct path? cuz that aint no file... thats a folder... just pop in your windows cd and on bios setup, your first boot device must be cdrom/dvd and follow instructions on screen. Just hit repair and you're done

I would say reloading your windows. Like reloading everything on your computer from scratch. But there might be other ways.

Good Luck!
