In a hot shower with the spray on your neck/upper back:
Roll shoulders forward several slow reps, then back several reps, then tilt head forwad to chest, then back, then down to one shoulder and then the other. Lastly, turn your head slowly as far as you can to the right, then left.
Repeat the process a couple of times. This also works for pre- pinched nerve in the shoulder blade area.
Good Luck!!

What you need to do is start at the base of your skull and rub in small circles downward toward your shoulder blades. Do this until the entire section from the whole back of your skull from behind your ears to your shoulder blades has been worked. Then use a stripping technique and starting at the base of the skull again rub in a straight down motion the same area as before, except this time you're going straight down instead of circular motion. What you're trying to do is lengthen those muscles that have tightened up and bunched up in areas. Using the two techniques will help do that. Just continue the process, but also know that it may take more than a day or two to really notice a change if you are bad enough to consider a chiropractor. Good luck.

I have a tried and true method: Fill a regular sock with uncooked rice (just plain white or brown rice) tie it at the top and microwave for just one minute or so. It shouldn't be too hot to handle try 40 seconds initially. Place the rice sock where the pain is and kind of roll it there I have even slept with the rice sock on my neck. I don't know how it works but I use it all the time, I frequently have a stiff neck (I am a hairdresser). Remember that rice holds heat so don't let it get too hot and use a sweat sock.

Then go to a Chinese Barefoot man, he will treat your sore shoulder/neck, could it be someone close to you that is being a pain in the neck?

Have someone rub the back of your neck - it also improves circulation in your neck.
