Acne can come out at any age. It's actually pretty normal to have it at 20 because the body is technically still growing and changing. You are still going through a lot of different stress and changes in your body and it is bound to happen. Proactive does work BUT I really wouldn't advise it. It will work great but if you miss a day, you will break out horribly and it will hurt. Try seeing a dermatologist or even just some st. ives or neutrogena. It's cheaper and works the same. Also, your diet will affect your acne. Try to change up your diet and eat more healthy food. Stress plays a big part also. Try to limit your stress levels, even if it is a hard time to do so. I hope this helps. Acne can't last forever. Good luck with that.

1) Yes it is normal. Y'know, I never had an acne problem EVER until I got to be about 20. It's stinks for sure, but true.
2) I use Proactiv now and it has helped my acne problem. It took me about 2 years to try it because I thought it was so expensive. But I finally tried and I still use it after 3 years.

I, too, have what the doctors call "adult onset acne." I had clear skin until I was 19. I'm now 31 and have tried all sorts of treatments. I know proactive works great for some, but it didn't do much for me aside from making my skin more oily than without it. The best treatment for me has been antibacterial soap (any will do) followed by a benzoyl peroxide ointment at night, then the same soap followed by an oil-free moisturizer in the morning. Even though it is frowned upon, I also try to tan once per week - it helps dry up the zits.

My acne started when I was 20 and it got worse and worse. I tried everything else but Proactiv is the only product that works for me. It's very strong and made my skin very dry but my skin got used to the product or something....it's okay now....I only use it once a day. It took me like 6 weeks for my skin to clear...don't give up and keep using it for a while...

Im a fan of proactiv. i still break out around my period and such...but it's not too bad if im using it correctly. some weeks i do a half a** job putting the toner on (esp if my face is feeling dry) and then i break out again. but when i'm using it right, it's good. i just use the toner and the face wash because the third step was causing me to break out more because my skin is very oily and that just added to it. that's why i sometimes skimp on the toner and pay for it later lol

Yes, adult acne is quite common. There is a product at Walmart called Acne Free that works just as well as procativ. You might want to get that a try first.

I am 30 and still have acne. I went to a esthetician and she sold me some great products. They can feel your skin and can tell what you need to clear it up. Good luck!
