I have to say this is theeee most interesting cat question I have seen. I could add this much. I have a genuine Halloween Cat with yellow eyes, and she has a straw fettish. I can't leave a glass in the house, on the counter, on the coffe table, on the end table, on the floor, or ANYWHERE! without her picking up on it. She has straw radar. She will grab it, play with it, then drag it to her food dish, take a bite of food, nibble on the straw, take a bite of food, nibble on the straw, etc, etc. Cats are weird, but so funny, and given all the replies you've gotten, I would imagine your cat is fine. So, How do I fix a Straw Fettish? LOL

My cats do that too. It's like the crazy poop launch. Annnnnnnnnnnnd, THEIR OFF!!! My amateur guess would be this is some kind of genetic learned behavior from prehistoric times when a cat would be doing number 2 and another cat or predator would know it would be incapacitated and so would attempt to attack it. It's in their DNA.

I love these answers! I think most cats do a victory lap after going #2.
My hypothesis, especially for my stinky boy kitty, is that they know what they just put in the litterbox stinks to high heaven and they'll be the first to get away from it.

Take him to the vet please. He may have some colon problems or stomach problems that hurt him after a bowel movement. Something is definitely wrong and it is painful to him.It might even be a hemorrhoid. The vet will know and take care of him. Good Luck with kitty.

Hi Rennie..there are some cats who do bolt after having dropped the kids off in the sand box as a joyous celebration to unload their baggage. LOL It's quite normal as hilarious to observe.

Exotic cats have been seen doing this as well after leaving their calling cards since they do not bury their poop to let other cats know they own that territory aside from urine spraying.

ha ha ha ha... yeah... i know what you mean becuase my cat does exactly the same thing. I think they do this becuase

1. they feel lighter after dropping a few ounces
2. they feel great because they've produced something all on their own
3. therefore they are entitled to a victory run around the oval

It's because he feels ten pound lighter. You can run around much easier when you feel lighter. Your cat obviously knows this.

How long has this been happening? It really sounds like he's sick/in pain. You usually can't tell when cats are sick unless they act out of character or do something strange.

When they "take a dump" it releases a happiness hormone inside them causing them to go ballistic. It's completely natural. And wierd!
