whats up w/ south beach diet?

I used SparkPeople to lose 20 pounds at age 26, and I've been maintaining since then. Free site to use, and I put the linnk at the bottom.

The truth is, that any diet that you go "on" or "off" is destined to fail. The key is to make long term changes to your diet and exercise habits. Start by counting your calories, both the intake and expenditure, and then find ways to consistantly eat less and work out more.

Dieting only works when it become lifestyle. Both atkins and South Beach diets recognize this. With atkins you lose weight faster. Both are similar. They count carb's. They both try to eliminate high carb foods and gradually move you to a proper lifestyle that will keep you healthy. When you limit carbs you change your body from storing fat to burning fat. Low calorie diets pretty much do the same but reduce your total intake of food. (4 calories = 1g carb) As in any diet exercise is essential. Sorry no way around it. I would also suggest Weight watchers for either a low calorie or low carb diet as they help you to learn the life style changes you will need to succeed.

Use the diet you can stick with. No, don't diet. Make lifestyle changes. The most important thing is to use more calories than you take in. In other words, exercise is as important as what you are or aren't eating.

Diets do not work. 99% of people gain the weight back. No one teaches the animal what to eat and what not to eat. He knows instinctively what to eat. Humans also have the same instinct. The way it works is just eat whatever tastes good and that will be healthy for you and non-fattening. That is why a baby tastes everything. So again whatever tastes good, is good for you. This is why you will spit out spoiled milk.

But wait!!! Man has the technology to create rat poison. It tastes like healthy food (good taste) but kills the rat. So man has done that to you. Note-- any food unaltered by man (uncooked) that tastes good, is good for you. So if you are stranded in the woods, that is how you know what to eat (cooking changes that). So man has created fake fruit. It tastes like fruit that exists in nature but it is terrrible for health, addictive and fattening called sweets.

So it is natural to like real sweets called fruit, like a baby does, but they have fooled you just like the rat. But they do not want to kill you. They want you to become obese so you will buy lots of their foods. This is called GOOD BUSINESS. Learn how to nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. See site below.

Just try www.crossfit.com. See if there is a place near you. Not only will you lose weight, you will build a crap load of muscle.
