because russia and the other countries with that capability had these weapons Prior to the UN decision that no one that doesnt already have the capability should try to obtain it to avoid further chances of a nucular war

Well... there is a whole gambit of reasons, but I will try to answer the best that I can. Iraq was banned from having WMD's after the Gulf War. These were sanctions administered by the United Nations. To invade Iraq is a lot easier than Russia. We have a Proliferation Treaty with Russia to slowly disarm, however I don't believe either party is actually participating. We know that North Korea has Nukes and WMD's, but they also have the worlds 4th largest military, not mention both South Korea and Japan at Gun Point. We as Americans can't stomach that kind of fight.

Has Russia used them? When did that happen? Who else other than Iraq has used chemical weapons since WW1? Also, We invaded because they were a threat who had violated the ceasefire agreement that they signed. The admin used WMD to show the threat. In hindsight a huge mistake but Clinton et al had used the same argument to justify its attacks on Iraq. Enough about the oil. We have not manipulated the oil supply using Iraqi oil. That would be the only way to "control" oil. We should be pumping it direct back to the states but we are not. Also, Russia does have a large oil reserve but they are not a threat. Canada is also not a threat so have no fear. Who would want them.

Because WMD was never anything more than an excuse for the administration to scare the sheep with. The real reason was always and continues to be control of oil in the region.

Because Russia would blow us the f*ck up with the hair pin big red button and there there typhoon subs all over and we are allies with Russia for just that reason they are a DEMOCRATIC country like US read the cuban missile crisis they would have done it if we had a full on invasion. and there special forces are handy in those 'can you shoot the f*ck out of that and blow that up' and there halfway done after they hear "shoot" (I'm speaking only for me not all my other fellow Russians but they probably have the same idea) CANADA has less oil supplies than RUSSIA and umm.... they think there so great well....damn they are they don't fight they just sort of sit around......and sit........bomb goes off in the us......still sitting....

Invading Iraq had not something to do with terrorism or guns of mass destruction. all of it got here all the way down to grease. The uero is better than the country dollar and all the oil generating countires interior the middle east the position in talks about promoting their oil in euros. nicely they were in talks until eventually Mr Bush eager to invade Iraq.

Well, maybe we didn't want the whole world turned "extra crispy". Instead both sides took on a mode of mutually assured destruction and the west won the war through economic means. Wars aren't about picking fair fights.

I'm all for Canada invading the States...Canada does NOT have weapons of mass destruction (we sold all of them and the accompanying scientists to you guys 50 years ago *winks*) and the U.S. is a bully...the government, anyways.
ooh ooh...to answer the question: russia doesn't have huge oil supplies. unfortunately, canada does, so we are probably the next target :( we have fresh water too...eek.

because Russia is not a threat to America. Saddam was a dictator and was also holding up camp grounds for training people to become terrorist, other than that I just think that Iraq really needs our help.
