If I am supposed to have 5 servings of vegetables a day,
and I put 5 servings of raw veggies into my juicer and drink the juice…

Did I get my daily vegetable requirements?

I know I don’t get the fiber, but I was hoping to get my fiber through fruits, legumes and grains.

Thank You

It depends on how old you are before we can determine if you're getting the required daily amount. Assuming you're an adult I would say that 5 servings of veggies is appropriate, and you're right you're not getting the fiber from them by juicing them but you are getting all the raw nutrition that they have to offer, so that's a plus. And yes you can get your roughage from fruits and grains. Juicing also allows you to get some things in your diet you wouldn't necessarily. Parsley for example is very good for you as well as ginger, but you wouldn't sit down and make a snack from them. Juicing them is a great way to share the benefits.

in accordance to the USDA foodstuff pyramid, I must have 3 to 5 servings of vegetables on a daily basis. A serving is a million/2 cup cooked vegetables, a million cup leafy eco-friendly vegetables, or 3/4 cup of vegetable juice. So, positive, i'm getting that plenty, and then some.

It sounds like you are doing really good about eating healthy. I don't see anything wrong with juicing. You still get the benefit w/o feeling so full. And like you said, you'll get fiber from other sources. Keep up the good work, your body will thank you.

According to V8, if you drink two of their serving size bottles you are getting the recommended daily allowance of vegetables. So I don't know why it would be any different for you to not get the same amount if you are juicing your own juice.

Well thats one way to get your veggies. You do lose the fiber though if the juicer separates out the fibrous material and dumps it in a separate bucket.

You lose vitamins in this simple processing procedure and the whole idea of having veges is to give you all the vitamins plus fibre.
