In the OT, it was clear that God was a tribal god who helped the Israelis in battle. After Jesus came, this God was suddenly for everyone, and the apostles went out and tried to convert Jews and non Jews alike. Once Constantine accepted Christianity, it was convert to the monotheistic God or die.
All this conversion took place under the premise that every person in the world had God as their father, and were watched over. Now some evangelicals say that the Jews are still "chosen people"? That God loves them more?
How can that be?

According to many prophecies, Israel as a nation although temporarily "set aside" by God, will play a major part in the future era at the establishment of God's Kingdom and during the rule of His Messiah, Yeshua on earth on his second coming. Since salvation came to the gentiles indirectly by Israel's unbelief in Yeshua, many Christians sympathize with Israel and would like to assist the nation of Israel in the hope that they too would turn to their Messiah.

A lot of your "facts" are not facts at all. God did not choose Israel, God chose Abraham because of his faith. The blessings that God is giving to Israel were the promises He made to Abraham. God is faithful and always keeps His Word.
God was not a "tribal god"
God did not suddenly become for everyone
Constantine never accepted Christianity, he made his own religion ultimately became Catholocism
The Bible never sets a premise that God was the father of everyone or were watched over
Jews are still chosen in the sense I mentioned
God does not love them more.
At least as a fundamentalists who has studied the Bible for 50 years I have some idea of what it says.

God's chosen people are the Jews. It was to the Jews that god revealed himself as the one True God; it was to the Jews that he formed a relationship, gave his Word and established a holy covenant. It was from the Jews that he himself came forth in the flesh in the person of Jesus. Understand that the Greeks, Persians and Romans (to name a few) were far more powerful and learned than the lowly Jews -- but God raised them up in his election of them.
Constantine did not make everyone Catholic. Christianity was highly illegal from 90 AD until 313 when Constantine issued the Edict of Milan making Christinaity legal but not the official relgion of the Roman empire. It would take a few more emporers -- until Theodosius II to do that around 438. Constantine himself was not baptized until he was on his death bed. Kinda makes me wonder if they carried him off his death bed down to the river for full immersion or if they allowed baptism by pouring since he was so near death?????????????????

God will answer your prayers the same as He would a Jew. At the beginning of civilization the Jews recognized God when others did not. God made them a 'test' in reviewing us and in times when they did great sin along with the others they scored great punishment but God so loves them even as He chastises. A NT scripture states if He does not chastise us He does not love us. All nations will eventually come against Israel and Jesus Himself will come back to save them THEN will the ones who don't acknowledge Jesus as the Savior. Rest assured Jesus loves us all the same.

For thou [art] an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that [are] upon the face of the earth.
Deut 7:7
Their rejection of Christ does not negate their election. Check out Romans 11:11 (NIV):
11 Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious. 12 But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their fullness bring!
Down in verse 25:
I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written:
“The deliverer will come from Zion;
he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.
27 And this is* my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.”*

NO NO NO you have it all wrong.Fundamentalist Christians do not believe that God's chosen people are loved more.We believe that Jesus died on the cross for everyone who chooses to accept Him.Therefor He, Jesus Christ loves everybody.Jesus Christ does not show no respect for person. The Jewish nation was chosen by God to be the nation in which the Messiah would come from that is why the Jewish nation is a chosen nation.

Israel is God's Chosen people. Evangelicals are grafted into Israel through Faith in Christ Jesus. Constantine has little to do with God's favor on Israel.
Ezekiel 37:26
Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.
don't forget that Rome also killed Christians and put women children and infants in the arena to be devoured by lions for amusement. In a dictatorship many things are done. claiming to do it in God's name does not mean it is God ordained.
God desires that all men come to repentance and the knowledge of Jesus Christ. but He allows each of us to make our own choices. Every person who breathes has the same chance to win the favor of God through Jesus.
Shalom.
