She sounds egg bound...rub vegetable oil around her vent, put a hot water jug under a layer of towel in a box and see if she passes the egg. Put her inside close the box up and see if she passes it let her stay for 1 hour. If she dosen't pass the egg bring her to an AVAIN vet. Its dangerous...is she female? Egg binding is when they are un able to pass the egg it can be caused by all sorts of things. Hurry its a life and death situation. The faster you get it out the better. I had one of my hens go egg bound today lucky I caught on fast she has laid the egg inside the nest box.

Used to be, when we raised a lot of budgies, when one got the scours as yours has, we removed it from the other bird population and the room, sterilized a single cage with new papers, etc, and placed two perches low to the bottom. sterilized all water and food dishes and, depending on the age of the bird, waited for her to live or die. No vets back then would fool with a bird.

We also sterilized all other equipment, cages, etc, in other area of aviary so that all birds were in a newly cleaned environment.

We kept green plants sprouting all the time and would put a green sprout tray in each cage 2 or three times a week.

Our birds were almost universally healthy as a result.

We also understood that the birds got old and died and accepted that as a fact of life. Sorry, but it's something you have to get used to.

Good luck with your petey or tweety.

Yeah, egg-bound all right. If the above suggestions don't work, there are two other options. One, GENTLY insert a q-tip that is well-lubed with K-Y Jelly into the vent, and sweep it around the egg (it will fit- done it before). Then thet your bird try to squeeze the egg out. If this doesn't work, (assuming the vent is lubed already, here), sqeeze gently to break the egg, then it will pass easily. But birdie MUST be lubed inside first to avoid cuts. After this, if Birdie survives, make sure she has adequate calcium in her diet.

i feel sorry about your budgie..the best advise i can give to you was to be sensitive to what kind of food you give to your budgie..don't let each day pass without giving them the seeds they need everyday..those mixed seeds must be given everyday with just enough amount and also try to make a balance meal for them aside from their everyday seeds you must give them friuts like apple, oranges, grapes but not avocado and apple seeds..those are too bad for them..also give them some vegetables, just like carrots, corn, sweet potato,cabbage(green)..

and remember don't allow their drinking container to be empty..always give them water time to time..

if ever your budgie is still not okay it is better to consult an avian doctor..

If she is still having a problem she needs to see an avian vet ASAP. Do not put anything on her vent and NEVER insert anything into her!

Don't apply vaseline or oil to her. It will get into her feathers and she will not be able to keep herself warm. Being cold will make her feel even worse.

See an avian vet asap
