Do they not Know Freedom Is not Free, Seems Like the Typical Neo-Con has no Concept Of The Global War On Terror........Iraq Is just one Front on The Global Battle Field, Even Cheney Admits this war can last 10-20-40 Yrs, who knows, may even be longer. Neo's are quick to support Bush, but they do not wish to support the War. They are scared to read the Military times, fearing the truth.

As if the Military Times speaks for the military. They are owned by Gannett. (You know, they own that lovely liberal newspeak paper USA Today...)

Besides, you don't fix what ain't broke. We don't need a draft. We have heroes that are willing to put their money where their mouths are. They volunteer to serve.

There is no need for a draft. The only people calling for a draft are using it as a straw man to promote some other argument. The military (full of a lot of people other than neo-cons) don't want a draft.

Iraq did not ought to affix the global warfare on Terror. This changed into an non-compulsory warfare, without provocation. Bush has made Iraq the global conflict field for terrorism. earlier the U. S. invasion, there have been no terrorist communities in Iraq. Now there a minimum of 23 that call it homestead.

They may also oppose it because it turns the war from a minor inconvenience for the American people, into something full blown and in your face. Then those who are against the war will only grow in number and activism.

Don't know that I'd put it quite that way, but my guess is that the neocons continue to be convinced that everyone in the world is a budding Thomas Jefferson, and dammit if they (the rest of the world) would just look at what we're doing for them for just five minutes, they would wise up and write their very own eloquent declarations and constitutions. Therefore, no need for a draft or a properly scaled military.

In short, neocons are living in La-La-Land (no reference to Los Angeles intended).

I will say the first two answerers are right, IMO, but that's just coincidental and is NOT why neocons are opposed to the draft.

I think you've got the party lines a bit confused, sir.
I will volunteer before a draft comes into effect. Much better that way.

a draft degrades the fighting effectiveness of an all volunteer military, by infusing it with a bunch of liberal pansy pukes who wouldnt fight to save their lives, or would rather help our their ideological brothers on the other side of the battlelines. In a time of peace, it is troubling, in a time of war, it is suicidal.

We live in a country thats all about freedom so forcing a person into the military kind of defeats what we fight for, doesn't it? Especially if you don't approve of who and why you're fighting.

Ummmm. Drafting would be okay if we were under attack, but drafting to assault other countries, you've got to be kidding.
