Can you guys help me understand why some men do this? Instead of calling to end it, writing a letter, or sending an email, some guys just do nothing. It leaves women feeling confused (at the very least). What is the purpose behind it? Why don't you say something?

Its mostly because they are bored where they are at and are looking or have already found something new. Then they don't want to have to face the fact they are cheating on a girl or going to cheat so they just disappear. They don't want to see the look on a woman's face because they are ashamed and realize what they lost, so they think that by staying away the problem won't come to them. These kind of guys are the ones that can't stay committed to a relationship or stay in one place at a time.....They have to be doing something different all the time or are easily bored with small challenges... They need something that will challenge them and by seeing how long they can manage to stay away from u.....that is a big challenge all in itself.

I've done that once--it was because I didn't want to hurt her as much as I would have if I did that in person and told her the truth. If I had seen her again and told her I was leaving her forever I might have changed my mind when she got all emotional on me. Then I would have been accused of stringing her on if I did change my mind and stayed. I couldn't tell her why I was leaving because that would have hurt her more than just leaving her confused. I mean which would you rather be--confused or left with the thought that the man that you loved hated something about you in a very personal way? That was just that one time--it really depends on the 2 people involved and the circumstances.
There just is no good way to break up.

Actually if a guy does this to me. . . I call him after several days or two weeks and say " I've noticed we haven't talked for awhile and it's obviously showing that you and I don't mesh so I just wanted to tell you that I did enjoy what time we did share and I wish you well ". That's my way of letting the guy know that how they left it that it's NOT COOL (cowardly, not a strong man) and Bye Bye. Usually at that point the guy will start "back peddling" and make excuses...but at that point it's too late and I'm gone. Not important if the guy still likes me or not.

Think about it. It is easier to do nothing than have to face the drama/action of doing something if you can get away with it. Human nature to avoid the confrontation and to do the least as possible. Giving closure to another person is not, unfortunately, a consideration.

The human race has descended and the love of many has grown cold (as was predicted long ago). Most people are selfish users. Not all men are like that - I'm not, but I haven't been able to get a date in years. I can't even find a woman who will give me he time of day.

I once talked things thru wt my man and even some of my guy besfrens about this. The truth is...most guys dont hav the guts to see how hurt it wud be for gurls to accept the fact that they're leaving them...so instead of being honest, they'd rather choose to be missing in action. But the truth is.... they just dont notice how much painful it is for girls to be left without reasons.....

We want what we can't have. As soon as the women leave us, we suddenly start to want them. It's an emotion that drives us back to our true loves and keeps us hoping for loves that can never be again. It's why women make the final decision over having a relationship or not, they show better judgment about love and faith.

Maybe they just don't want to hurt us so they just distance themselve and figure by doing this they won't see us hurt. It really sucks cause it just happened to me. I mean you give your all to a guy and then he pulls this bs thing not talking to you for a while and then when you finally talk to him he's got another girl. It's really shitty and a girl would never think of doing something like that to a guy. I mean I know in a guys mind it would hurt them to tell us but it hurts even more when we find out later on.

Some guys do not have enough guts to call and end it by talking to you. Some just hide like a beaten dog.
Don't worry about them it is better to be rid of them.
