Why would any sane person believe in GOD's existence??

Religion and the bible were created in a time of sheer ignorance. GOD DOES NOT EXIST! He was conjured from the minds of fools. It is insanity. Creationism is for the weak of mind. Creationists or religious types are like sheep. They simply follow the herd and shut up. They are ery ignorant and blind to the truth. I pity them all! WHO AGREES WITH ME!?

I have read the bible cover to cover. It contradicts itself in many places and is extremely repetitive in others. I would never believe the contents of any book in its entirety, as books are written by men.

For all users who keep comparing sanity to intelligence, I never strecthed that connection. I consider them unrelated.

HEY, I was fine with keeping my beliefs to myself until you religious folk started forcing your views down my throat. Nobody cares that you’re a chump and get off on trying to “save” other people. That’s why I’m so angry. So stop throwing freedom of speech and religion in my face if you can’t take it back.

I believe God exists and every freakin' word in the bible too. Why? Because too many good things have happened in my life after I've prayed to God. Things that cannot be explained away with logic. But that's only half of it.

I also choose to believe someone is in control of this whole messed up world and that some day every wrong will be righted.

I am not like sheep. I make my own decisions. I admit that I am weak. That's why I believe in a strong God. When God fights my battles, I never lose.

HERE`s WHY ....GOD does exist , GOD is the beginning of all life as we know it !! Here are your scientific facts that show the " insanity " of not believing in God The Creator of the universe. During all of mans` scientific recorded human history there has never been a substantiated case of any living thing being produced by a non-living thing ! Living things are produced only by living things ! It is highly premature for materialist like you to claim that all living things " evolved " into existence from nothing , when mans` science has yet to discover how even one protein molecule could actually have come into existence by any known " natural process " !! There is no scientific proof that life evovoled ( or ever could ) into existence from non-living matter ! Further , there is substantial evidence that " spontaneous generation " is impossible !! Only DNA can produce DNA !! No chemical interaction of molecules has even come close to producing this ultra-complex code which is so essential to all known life !! If there is no GOD as you believe , on what basis is there any meaning or hope for fairness , comfort , or better times without a personal Creator GOD ?? If there is no GOD as you believe , How are you anything other than the coincidental , purposeless , mis-carriage of nature , spinning round and round on a lonely planet in the blackness of space for just a little while before you and all memory of your futile , pointless , meaningless life finally blinks out forever in the endless darkness !! Another striking bit of evidence of Divine Inspiration is found in the fact that many of the principles of " your " modern science were recorded as facts of nature in the Bible long before scientist confirmed them experimentally ! A sample of this knowledge would include the following .. Roundness of the earth ( Isaiah 40 : 22 )... Almost infinite extent of the sideral universe ( Isaiah 55 : ) .. Law of conservation of mass & energy ( 2nd Peter 3 : 7 ) , ..Hydrological cycle ( Ecclesiastes 1 : 7 ) .. Vastness number of stars ( Jeremiah 33 : 22 ) .. Law of increasing entropy ( Psalm 102 - 25 : 27 ) .. Paramount importance of blood in the life process ( Leviticus 17 : 11 ) .. Atmospheric circulation ( Ecclesiastes 15 : 6 ) .. Gravatational Field ( Job 26 : 7 ), and many , many more , but surely you get the point ?? GOD is The Creator of all things we know !!! Matter cannot create itself ! Knowledge has to to be gained from knowledge that already exist , knowledge cannot create itself !! Non-matter cannot create matter !! Your insanity cannot create sanity , just as confusion cannot create order !! I surely don`t agree with you as you have demonstarted your lack of even common scientific knowledge ! So one would not expect you to be anything other than " ignorant " of GOD and His works !! Ignorance is insanity !! Why would any sane person believe in GOD's existence?

Maybe because they realize that God is real.

Let me give you some intellectuals that had a strong belief in God.

J.R.R. Tolkein was a devout Christian

Gandi was a devout Hindu

There were few if any of the founding fathers of the USA that did not have a strong faith in God.

C.S. Lewis (Chronicles of Narnia) A well known atheist in Britain, and head of one of the language departments at Cambridge, (I would say a very intellegent man), wrote a book called "Suprised by Joy". In it he documents how God, the "Hound of Heaven" continually chased him in his thought life, until as he puts it he became "The most reluctant convert in Britain." The book documents how this new found faith gave him a joy that he had never imagined was possible. I hope that the Hound of Heaven persues you as strongly as it persued Lewis. I believe that He is starting to persue you. I hope that you will finally experience the Joy that Lewis found.

In closing I want you to see another intellect that finally gave in to the Hound of Heaven.

It didn't make news, on the front or back pages of leading American newspapers, but Professor Antony Flew, a prominent British philosopher who is considered the world's best-known atheist, has cited advancements in science as proof of the existence of God. This is comparable to Hugh Hefner announcing that he is becoming a celibate.
At a symposium sponsored by the Institute for Metascientific Research, Flew said he has come to believe in God based on developments in DNA research. Flew, author of the book, Darwinian Evolution, declared, "What I think the DNA material has done is show that intelligence must have been involved in getting these extraordinarily diverse elements together. The enormous complexity by which the results were achieved look to me like the work of intelligence."
Associated Press distributed a December 9 story by religion writer Richard N. Ostling about Flew's conversion. Flew told AP that his current ideas had some similarity with those of U.S. "intelligent design" theorists, who believe the complexity of life points to an intelligent source of life, rather than the random and natural processes posited by Charles Darwin's theory of evolution.

You got it backwards my friend with all due respect. Only fools say in their heart there is no God. True wisdom isn't in head knowledge but in heart knowledge and applying wisdom and the beginning of wisdom is to fear the Lord. I know people who have jillions of degrees and can't keep a job and were in mental wards. Christians are not blind or ignorant. We just see things in a spiritual light; in light of eternity where we have hope of eternal life and not just in this life only. It's been tried and proven so we have no reason to doubt the Father. Those without Christ are blind and naked.
I follow Christ not man. He is the true Shepherd. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Why pity a Christian? Christians love Christ and His Word. Why do you hate God and His Son Jesus Christ might be the better question to pose and not at Y.A. but in your own heart. You are afraid of and denigrate what you don't understand whereas we simply have placed our faith and trust in God.
Maybe many Christians were fortunate enough to have godly examples in earthly fathers thus have less difficulties understanding our heavenly Father's nature. If not, God will be the Father, mother, sister, brother and everything you need for healing of body, mind and spirit.
There can be no science to support or justify or explain away or blame the God you don't believe in for a sinful lifestyle choice and spiritual bondage. Sin has abased many an otherwise intelligent man or great nation to it's knees. That's the part you want us silenced about isn't it and where the freedom of speech issue comes into play? You can't silence your conscience completely unless you end up denying God entrance to your heart one time too many and sear it over with a hot iron until you can no longer tell right from wrong. Many a criminal were clever enough and learned enough to outsmart getting caught for many years but that doesn't make them anything other than wicked fools when it's all said and done. See the contrasts in types of wisdom and it's origination; "13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. 14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace." How could any sane person believe the following exerpts from Richard Dawkin's book The Ancestor's Tale:
1. Around 100 million years ago when our ancestors resembled shrews or opossums (pg. 39)
2. There must be a moment in history when there were 2 animals in the same species,one of whom became the ancestor of all humans and no aardvarks(or any other animal) while the other became the ancestor of all aardvarks and no humans. They may well have met,and may even have been brothers....All species are cousins of one another. (pg.40)
3. In the Devonian Period,our direct ancestors were fish. (pg. 309)
4. We are lobefins adjusted for life on land. (pg. 330)
5. Starfish and their kind are still our close cousins. (pg. 376)

It certainly takes a HUGE amount of faith to believe all that drivel.

I think you are under the misconception that by "God" all believers mean a nice old bearded man in the sky. Yes, that would be a bit naive wouldn't it? But I know people who believe in God and by that they mean that they feel connected to a higher spiritual energy that bits of it are in all of us. Some of these people are very loving, bright and not at all delusional. I think the only "delusion" is when we believe we alone know the "truth" and look down on people with different beliefs to ours.

Sane people, even very intelligent people believe in God.

Here's why. Inside your brain there is a small area behind your right ear called the God Module. (Really, do a google search on "God Module".) When this area of your brain is stimulated then you have a deeply religious experience. The God Module is why people all over the world have always believed in God.

Why did nature design man to believe in God? Evidently faith in God allows humans to have hope in the face of insurmountable odds. Through faith we can believe we will be healed of disease. Through faith we can believe that doing good to others will ultimately benefit us as well. Through faith we believe in helping people we don't even know. Nature has designed purpose and meaning into lives through a faith in God.

They believe because it makes them feel less lonely. Also, believing in God and praying can lower blood pressure. Sometimes, when life is just too much, it is such a relief to tell God, "I can't handle this. I am giving my worries to you." Why not believe? You listed some reasons why not to believe, but there are many good reasons to believe. Believing brings hope and a sense of specialness to our lives.
