Actually, drinking water is very good for you. Sure you get a bit lighter when you pee, but that's not the point. Water helps you shed water. Getting dehydrated is bad for you. Water weight is water weight, though. Losing weight requires losing fat. So, after you jog for 4 miles, you have a nice refreshing drink of water. Win-win.

You won't lose weight by drinking water and peeing. Whatever goes in will come out.
Be careful not to dring TOO much water. That's not good for you, either. It is said that you should drink about 8 glasses of water a day. Drinking a gallon, all at once, is not good for you.

Drinking about a gallon a day is important anyway - it might make you lose weight initially, but overall it's just important for weight stabilization.
As long as your pee is clear or very lightly colored, you are sufficiently hydrated. That should be your aim. As long as you're eating right and exercising, the rest will follow.

Is this really a serious question?
You won't lose weight as the water passes through your system. However, often we crave water but mistake it for hunger - drinking a glass of water before you snack will very often remove the urge to snack. So, water will help with weight loss in that context.

You are just letting the water out. Sorry, no weight loss. In fact, you might even gain a little if you were dehydrated. Your body may try and store some.
